Tools

There are a lot of different tools out there. This could cause some confusion, so this section is devoted to explaining the general functions of tools of a certain group.

Graphics Editors

The name of this group of tools should be pretty much self-explaining. One can use the graphic reader to read all the different graphics that have been compressed into the game files. Useful for people who need a specific graphic fast or is interested in how the graphics are stored.

Mission Editors

Mission editors are tools that can be used to alter the game missions. Now what is the difference between mission, scenario and terrain editors? Mission editors allow you to alter the units, buildings and things such as how the AI plays the mission. Mission editors are generally not graphical, they are text only. Read the appropiate sections to find out about the other map editor types.

Scenario Editors

Scenario editors are the tools that allows you to create a map from the very start to the very end. That is, they allow you to alter pretty much everything that can be found in the missions in the game, and you should not need any other tool in order to create a map than a scenario editor. Unfortunately, there are no finished scenario editors currently available.

Terrain Editors

A terrain editor is a editor that allows you to edit the game maps. As the name suggests, terrain editors are not capable of editing every aspect of the maps, instead they allow you to edit the terrain and the map objects (trees, bushes etc.). They do not allow placement of units and buildings.
