Re: Kam team speak server

Well I would only nominate 3 IMO
I don't think a negative comment is needed about my 3 choices that i want to nominate.

Florek:
Pros: very active , pleasant guy with a lot of ts experience. He also speaks polish very well and since we have a lot of polish speaking people on ts it would be convenient.

Bo:
Pros: Often online, not as much as Florek but he is there quite often, he speaks English well and also some dutch and French. He also has a lot of ts experience from the past (playing mine craft) and I think would be up for the job, but I dont know if he wants to.

Romek: Active user who speaks mostly polish but understands English , he never loses his head (not that i know of) and would be a guy that is able to handle this kind of job.

Edit: I would like to stick one more name in there

Pizzaisgood:
Very neutral guy and pleasant indeed, I believe he is quite active, calm and smart guy.

Re: Kam team speak server

The reason that Lewin, TDL and me have Admin rights on the TS channel, is that we want to 'contain' these rights. I would not be wise to split the community into two regarding moderation. On this forum (as in every other forum) we discuss things behind the scenes within the team. This way, we can keep doing that without any alterations. You should see the TS KaM Rooms as part of KaM.net (even though they're officially not (yet?)). Then there's the 'problem' that a team really needs to be a team. It often doesn't work putting a lot of different people in a team. It can lead to frustrations, etc. If you don't mind me saying, I think that Lewin, TDL and me form a very good team that's taking care of Litude's website for almost a year. We'd like to keep our team in that state, so that's why we would carefully consider a person willing to become TS Admin. For example: I didn't make TDL Global Mod when the idea popped into my head. I discussed it with Lewin first, of course. I'm definitely not saying we won't consider another person to have Admin rights, but we'll think it through first. Seems fair to me.
I'm a bit surprised by this to be honest. It gives me the impression, that you try to squeeze a bit too much under the hat of kam.net.

I've seen it a bit different, let me shortly explain: the heart of the whole remake success is the remake itself, obviously. This is done by the two masters Krom and Lewin and the many contributors. But I also think that the side-projects that are also very important. For example the hosting of the website (I think I remember that someone else than Krom or Lewin hosts the website). And, of course, this forum which is yours. But don't forget also the other fansite websites. Or the youtube channel. Or the chat.

All of them are different projects run by different people. And I thought, the TeamSpeak Server would be that as well. Another project run by an independent member of the kam community.

You must understand, I see one of the pleasant things of the remake in the loosely way the community is put together. Everyone can set up his project, everyone can organize tournaments or do whatever he wants. This makes people contribute, either with maps or with sprites. Everything is welcome. No one judges before, you don't have to ask anyone before you start.

So now if Tiesto came to you voluntarily and asked to be part of kam.net then please forgive me that I am completely wrong then. But if he did not, why do the kam.net-moderators become admin in the TS? Let me take the chat, because I have admin rights there: I set the policy that you get admin rights if you contributed to the kam remake in a significant way. So you'll find the admins of some of the best kam servers idling there. The chat is also included in the kam website. But still, it is independent.
And I thought the forum would be organized in a similar way. So I wonder why you speak of a 'behind the scene'-team.

Please don't get me wrong. You do a fantastic way in organizing and maintaining this forum and also the kam.net website. Let's also not forget that you have to spend money, too, not even speaking of the time you put into that. That is appreciated!

I just wonder why you kind of extend the kam.net team onto the TS?

Re: Kam team speak server

I don't really see the problem; as you see we are discussing who else might/should get admin rights so it won't probably be 'just us'.

Re: Kam team speak server

Making the mods from the forum, the mods at TS channel is the best decision, Tiesto asking them to know who to make a TS mod is also a good one. But I see no reason for making the TS channel an official part of kam.net (what are the advantages?). I think that Siegfried's post should've been sent to Anti & co. as a private message though, as it is possibly inflammatory, knowing the hot heads out there :) I see the point that he tries to make, but I fear someone might get him wrong.

Re: Kam team speak server

Tiesto, can you give simple moderators rights for everyone who will ask for it? Rights wich allows kicking people from current channel(with explaining a reason), for example. And everyone who wants this rights to help in moderation can ask for them in a special topic, here?
It is not a secret that moderation is a professional activities nowadays but the first goal of it is helping people to work/comunicate between each other. So i dont think someone who wants to be a moderator can be a bad person and will make unfair decision. And even if he does there will be lots of people around who can prevet unfait actions. As far as i know the only one problem is trolls and "spies" so i think it is good to give everyone an option to get rid of them. :)

P.s. It is really bad when few people have a control around things. It seems easy and workable, yes. But also not all of us understands how to use their power. It will be raather bad to give an option to moderate forum and TS to the same people.

Btw. In corporaton relations its an ethical rule that in one project you need different moderators for different groups and different type of activities. It depends on lots of characteristc: type of collective, type of comunication, type of information sharring system, personal skills and characteristics of moderator/facilitator.

Channel admin is the simplest moderation rights i can give right now. The other moderation options are server admin and super admin(which is me). However, How TS3 works, it gives me the option to create user groups to my own specification if needs be. So if i'm aware of what the requirements are, i could create a user group to suit.

I disagree with the first point, i'm against just giving it to whoever asks for it as some people tend to get trigger happy, it's a shame but i've seen it before, i've been helping run a community since 2009 and was playing in a clan from 2004 so i've pretty much seen it all.

Re: Kam team speak server

@Siegfried: I don't think the TS channels should be part of KaM.net either, but I don't think Anti was really suggesting that. We can have extra TS admins who aren't forum moderators, but the point is that TieSTo is new to the community and doesn't know who can be trusted and who has experience. So making the forum moderators TS admins makes sense for a start, and we can add extra people later. If TieSTo was a member like you or me who knew the community and knew who would make a good admin, then he could choose for himself like you did for the IRC chat channel. But he's not so the KaM.net team is a logical place to start when giving out admin rights. At the end of the day it's TieSTo's server so he makes the final decisions about what happens there. That already makes it distinct from KaM.net.

I completely agree, given admin rights to anyone sounds like a bad idea. I think we might want more than just the forum moderators because TS probably needs a faster admin response time than the forum, that's why we're asking people to discuss who would be best for the job and send us a PM if they want to "apply for the job". Someone has to make the decision of who should be TeamSpeak admins and the forum moderators (and TieSTo of course) seem like a good choice. I think a lot of people would agree there are some people who should not be made admins ("trigger happy" as TieSTo said).

Don't get me wrong, i've played KaM multiplayer on and off for months under various aliases so i've got an idea of how people behave. Also i've had a side idea, which i'll talk about tomorrow

I was about to show something similar! Beat me to it!

It's quite good how quickly how you guys are picking this up. If the traffic keeps progessing at this rate, i'll look at a bigger and better solution ;)
