Knights and merhcants is becoming less popular!?!

Knights and merchants is an old game. And, as time goes by, treasures are forgotten, stories become legends, legends become fiction, then are forgotten as well. As time flies, things become less important to us. Such as knights and merchants.

I will like knights and merchants for a long time but it is becoming very unpopular.

Is it? I'm still getting like 10 downloads per day
So about 10 (slightly less because some people already had it but download anyway maybe because they lost it) new K&M players per day..

I don't think it gets unpopular. Not very much people will play it anymore. But most games get unpopular after about 1 year. And of course, not nearly as much people as in 1998 are still playing the game. But i dont think it still gets more unpopular.

You have your own site too (not meaning the TKE)? Strange, I haven't seen any links to there. Can you post it here so I can take a look? :P

I presume you share only the demo versions?

Nope, he's sharing the full game as torrent somewhere. Don't bother posting links as they will be removed.

You can easily find it on miniova and the pirate bay, just search for Knights and Merchants TPR, it's the one with the most seeds.

I heard once that private messages (was the abbreviation PM?) aren't included to the law and because PMs aren't public. But I guess Litude you know that better as an administrator than I so would you tell us how it is?

I can say that I've downloaded KaM TPR illegally, because I'm still waiting my game order. I think I spotted harold's torrent too but I didn't download that. Luckily their were CD-image torrents too so it was possible to install it. (which I think always works better than if you just copy+paste those files to your hard drive...) None of the CD-images were english versions (only dutch 1.58 SR2, but that was easy to fix with the Englich patch).

I tried to copy the TSK CD once but the game never accepted it. I also tried to copy the image and then use Daemon tools but none of my tries worked. Do you have any idea why it won't work/or what I've maybe done wrong? (Was this question against the rules? Well, you know my e-mail... )

Remember Litude when you advised me to order KaM from Puolenkuun pelit (translation: Halfmoon games, a Finnish game store)? I have got only delay message and notice that it may never come. I guess I have to consult about special order with the store or try to contact directly to the importer. It seems to be difficult to buy the physical version of the game here in Finland. Well, maybe I should try searching it desperately from flea markets.

Litude, please say if you have found or know a different store where I could try to buy/order the other/both version(s) of the game. (I guess I can't order it from foreign country because I'm not 18 and have no credit card and my dad doesn't like about the idea.) I still haven't manage to buy the TSK from my local library but I keep consulting with it. Until I got it I have to reborrow it again every month...

There is no difference. For many games there is, but not for KaM. You can just copy/paste it around and it doesn't matter at all.

Well, there's no way for me to read your PM's (unless I go change your passwords manually so I can login) so I guess you can make your own conclusions from that.

Ah, that's really too bad as I looked through my usual sources and found no more stores selling the game :(. If you are lucky (actually it happens quite often), you could try checkking Huuto.net in hopes of someone selling their copy.

Alright everyone, lets make torrent lists and then everyone posts those lists to the next guy by PMs until everybody got all of them.
Let's just hope that Mr. Hassinger/your webhost isn't reading this :D
I have an idea, but I won't go there .
Shame, because those librarians haven't got any agreement with me. I really would ensure to get (legal) TSK in any way, because it's even harder to find English version of TSK for sale, especially the 1.30 version (libarary's TSK is 1.32).

Please, could you share your idea with me?
(I wonder if those TPR images at Piratebay are done by the same way?)

I feel I have deserved it, because I lost my 15? when I tried to buy that Topware download-version which didn't work so they have got my payment (they didn't return it even I cancelled it in time limit). In the end, I would have the game, and they have their money, like it is when you buy the CD. I wouldn't share the game/your idea to others.

I hope you can understand me. :(

Just guess where I tried to look for KaM first... and I have checked it regularly. I think the situation is the same as it was when we talked @IRC - only Puolenkuun pelit offers it but they don't have any stock.

Unfortunately I haven't been lucky for a long time...

Well last time I checked (some 3 months ago), there were 2 copies of TSK on sale so I don't think it can be that rare.

Read the license agreement though, for almost every digital thing, reselling is illegal.

Well I've never heard of anyone getting sued for selling a used game, whilst I have heard stories of people downloading stuff getting quite costly fines to pay.

savage empire http://www.mobygames.com/game/worlds-of-ultima-the-savage-empire
is tucked away on a backup disk in one of my drawers. games may fade from sight, but people have gone as far as keeping old pc's just so they are able to play their old games.

if you anger the litude, he/she can go into your profile through admin priv's and change your sig to "i love penquins in pink tutu's" or something embarrasing.
