Some good features of TPR?

Just thought it would be nice to see what people thought of the game in a good light :D Or which parts are best, or are at least positive points. Personally I don't think it's that bad! :P

Let's hear some thoughts :)

I like the campaign, after it's patched anyway..
The first mission in it is a bit too hard in my opinion though

Same for the single map missions - usually I can only kill 2 or 3 enemies and by then the rest has become too powerful while I've lost too many units to the first enemies..

2 vs 2 would be nice, with 1 AI ally (1 vs 1 is really too easy..)

TPR sucks bigtime...
- Their new campaign is inbalanced. Starts way to hard + most of the missions the enemy doesn't even attack + drunk soldiers
- The new 'cheap' units destroy the fun of the economy and dont got new voices etc...
- The seige units are too powerfull and can kill the expensive iron soldiers in 1 hit. Seconldy they look stupid and are like robots (also no new voices)
- The new buildings... Maybe the fisherman is good but fish doesnt feed soldiers cuz they were too lazy to program that. also fishes don't regenerate which makes it kinda useless...
- Single missions: Good concept but that's all. But kinda required in every game so this can maybe be my only reason. But however, enemy's don't attack, just stand there which makes it very boring + the AI only builds one of each building which makes it so unrealistic + U can easily sneak in there town and win very easy.
- Multiplayer doesn't even work
- etc...

TPR = fail!
I only like to play TSK

So, guess i made my point :p

Nick, you actualy wrote everything I think of TPR :)

I voted for SP missions. Even those are not as good as they should have been.

P.S. Which reminds me - Install and play Settlers for a while! :P

Okay, I'm trying to ignore the existing bugs of TPR, so what is my favourite feature now?
Not the new campaign, it wasn't as good as the TSK campaign and I even didn't like the maps.
Not the new units. The rebel is useless, rogues are unnecessary and the siege weapons are too powerful and too expensive. It's not worth to train them. So also not the new siege units.
The new buildings...maybe, but there is a vehicles workshop, a fishermans hut and a townhall. So just a little bit...I like the idea of fish.
So it must be the singleplayer maps! The weren't bug free, okay, but when I finished KAM campaigns I started to build huge towns in the SP-missions.

So that's what I think

Hmm... it's a hard decision...
- New campaign - maps and missions are planned terribly. And bugs.
- New units - too weak and/or too expensive. And bugs.
- Siege units - too powerful. And, of course, bugs.
- New buildings - bugs!
- Single player maps - copied from multiplayer and well... bugs.
- Fast mode - very useful and buggy thing.
- Higher resolutions - useful for someone (I use it only for making bigger screenshots), and, I don't know if it has bugs!
- New functions in multiplayer mode - epic fail.
What else?
- New terrain tiles (lava, ice) - yup, useful in some maps I think
- New script commands - useful (and confusing) for mission makers and of course bugged.

Well, did I forget about something? Yeah, TPR was made to be released sooner. Extremely big amount of bugs, map parts copied from older missions (look at some topic on Dutch forum, for example mission 1 TSK and 12 TPR; or mission 8 TPR map is almost the same as battle map in 1.20 demo, single missions copied from multiplayer - even the Try Again button is inactive!).

I don't know which one of these is the best. I mostly use fast mode and single player maps (in TSK it needs file swapping :P). Also, the new terrain tiles keeps me using TPR - i don't know if they can be ported to TSK (I can live without new commands, like attack type 2).

Siege units are useful only when testing enemy's attacks (the biggest ones) :P

Look at this from the other side - some bugs are funny :P

I think it's the campaign. It might not be the greatest in terms of balance and the amount of polish, but back before any scenario editing was possible these 14 additional missions were a welcome addition to the game (playing those 20 TSK missions over and over...).

And yeah it's sad really that both entries in the Knights and Merchants series ended up being rushed. Well, The Shattered Kingdom didn't make this as noticeable as it didn't have that many bugs but some features were dropped. Ironically, The Peasants Rebellion was even delayed because of the excess amount of bugs found during beta testing, but I wonder if that delay did the game any good (considering how Joymania constantly broke the game more and more with any official patches released).

Some bugs make the campaigns less enjoyable (in older patches: crashing, enemies attacking at the same time and taking more troops, now drunk soldiers... It can be win only if I attack them with troops that I had at the start (6, 7, 10, 12 TPR!) or start training more soldiers quickly). But, as you said, more missions were really needed these times.

Really?! I didn't know that!

Well, it was supposed to be released in September but was eventually delayed. No official word for the reason was given, but there were rumors that this was because of there being a huge amount of bugs found.

I like:
- New terrain
- New script commands
- New resolutions (I really like 1280x1024, it's much easier to play)
- I like the single missions/new campaign because it give you more places to put your fan made missions
- The fisherman is good, and the other new buildings are ok. Just a shame about the bugs...
- New units are ok, and will be better once they have unique voices
- Siege equipment is kind of unnecessary. I mean, you don't attack soldiers with a whopping great balista in real life!!! (I thought they were only really used for sieging, which doesn't really work in KaM)

So I voted for other, because the new terrain/commands/resolutions are my favourites.

I agree with this! :P

Fast mode is very usefull as well. New buildings are nice, only a pity that dear Mr. AI doesn't use them. I think I like the new units the most though.

I always liked expansions, because they always feature something new! New building, units, maps and other nice things! No matter what you think about Siege Weapons and "Money Units", I still like them much!
I would vote "everything", but I voted single maps, since that is the best thing in TPR, for me. :D

I voted for the new campaign. Sure there are a lot of bugs. (especially mission 14!!!) and then of course the "drunken" soldiers. But I though the maps and the missions (that don't have a lot of bugs) were really good.
I used to spam this forum so much...

Yeah, forgot to mention the speed, to be honest I voted for the campaign, even with the bugs I thought they were refreshing, apart from playing the old one over and over. Apart from this thought, the speed is the other most useful feature to me, even with the bugs it causes. Makes me want to play it more, as the time spent on missions is hilarious in comparison with other games.
