Pausing in Multiplayer

Is it possible to pause in multiplayer? I need to be able to so my Grandpa and I can leave the game running over night (since games take too long to finish in one day). On my old, old, old windows 98, I could pause by hitting the mouse while, but that doesn't seem to work on newer windows versions (or it could be the newer mouses).
Anyway, help would be GREATLY apreiciated. I can't stress enough how much I'd like to be able to do this!

You can actually save the game. Just save it, turn the game off, then you'll get the option to start the game from the save next time you boot up multiplayer.

It doesn't work. Suriously, if the game is stuck on 2% loaded for 30 minuites, it's not going to work.

I don't think you can pause it. I've never had a problem saving and resuming a multiplayer game with TSK but TPR is broken as far as I know.
