KaM not working on Vista x64

Hi,

I've read through a few threads here on the forum about how to make KaM work on various OS's, but despite following the advice I found here, I was not able to run the game.

I'm using the installer from the GOG, I've tried installing the game on a 32bit OS and then copying the files to my rig with Vista x64, but with no luck.

The game just keeps crashing immediately after an attempt to run it, no matter what compatibily, desktop compistion or whatever else settings I modify.

Any idea how I could get it to work?

Hi and welcome to the forums! :)

I've managed to run the GOG version of the game flawlessly under Vista x64 so it's at least not the OS that is to blame. What kind of a computer do you have, laptop or a desktop?

Also, is there any specific error message when the game crashes? Or just some standard KM_TPR.exe has performed an illegal operation message?

I have a desktop PC, I could write what my HW is but I don't think it is the problem because KaM should run probably on everything as far as HW is concerned.

Anyway, just in case:

Sapphire Radeon HD 4870, Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300, 8 GB RAM, Gigabyte x48-DS4

Here is the error I keep getting:

Already got it working.

I was wondering about the raphook.dll, googled it and found it has something to do with ATi Tray tools, which I use to regulate my GPU's fan speed.

I don't understand what exactly does the game dislike about it as I have never had any problem with any other game when using the tool, but never mind, no big deal - I'll just turn it off for the time playing...

I think you could add this finding somewhere to your technical support FAQ, because someone with the same problem could appear, although I'm sure there aren't many people using ATi Tray tools.
