OMG now my map editor is messed up now

every time i do my map editor my screen goesblack even when I start a new one. can someone help?

There is normally only one reason for the screen going black. Does it then exit and say that you've lost/won? If so then it almost certainly means that the map path is incorrect. Check the map path in the mission file and make sure that there are NO SPACES in the file name. KaM does not work if the map file has spaces in it!

If it does not exit after starting then it is something else. Possibly you need to put more map revealers? Try revealing the whole map and see if that changes anything.

Oh, I know what you mean. I assume you're talking about my editor, Lewin's KaM Mission Editor. (BTW, it's not a map editor, it's a mission editor) Unless you mean Krom's editor, in which case disregard this message.

If the map is not appearing it means that it can't find it. The most likely reason for this is because you haven't set your KaM Directory. Click Settings -> Set KaM Dir. Browse and select the folder where KaM is installed. (the folder containing "km_tpr.exe" and "data") Click ok and it might load up your map.

If it still doesn't load the map after you have made sure you have the right KaM dir then it could be that you set the map path wrong. Go to Treeview -> Generic -> Map File and open it. Browse for the map file and select it. Once you click ok it should then load your map file.

Note that your map MUST be in the KaM directory for it to work. The best place is probably data\mission\smaps because that is standard. Make sure you have saved the map there.

Try re-downloading the map editor and reinstalling it into KaM. Possibly something got corrupted. Also try clicking on the mini-map to see if that fixes it and try drawing with the tools on the blackness. See if you can make it work. Let me know how it goes.

I think he didn't put the resorce file in KaM. Sometimes of you don't, the screen goes black. Also you may have to re-extract the editor file. Mine went black and when I did this, it worked.
