Even the internet doesn't know where it is which suggests that you might not need it. Are you sure you do? The C++ codes do nothing with a GUID

Yeah well, I told you the C++ version was much more weird and complicated
and seemed completely different, with loads of weird stuff everywhere, and besides I already seem to be doing all it does

Anyway, the guy/girl says that when trying to connect:
P.S. Connect too is giving me the DPN_ERR_INVALIDDEVICEADDRESS.
Which is same that is happening to us, we need that 'device'

This thread is getting WAY too far off topic! Please stick to the topic of the petition, not the online server. Create a new thread for that.

Back to the petition:
Today I sent another letter expressing that I am disappointed that I didn't receive a reply, and pointing out that releasing the source code does not equal make the game free. (if only the source was released and not the images, sounds, textures, fonts, etc.) I argued that it would make the game more popular because we could fix the bugs and provide support for people.

Hopefully this time we will receive a reply.
Lewin.

I just got a reply! :o
Hi Lewin,

Knights & Merchants is a title developed by JoyMania - which was and
probably till is a company owned by two individuals. Our contract assigns
the title, IP and trademark, but we have actually no access to the source
code (which is so outdated btw. that it would not be helpful anyway).
Probably we have access to a version of the code from a 8 years ago made MAc
OS port, but I have no legal base to release it.

Best regards,
Dirk P. Hassinger
board chairman
So what do we do next? :? He seems to be saying that Joymania own the rights.
Lewin.

I don't know. Perhaps send the petition as well as this reply to joymania or what their name is now (the makers of kam), because if I understand correctly, nobody is stating that they have the right to release the source-code.

Reply looks so unserious, says "btw" instead of "by the way" and "MAc" instead of "Mac"

It just means that reply was written by a living person just like you and me

Believe my experience - developers/publishers are just like us (usually slightly older though).

they're not bloodthirsty vampiric a$$..oles?

sorry, thats just microsoft...

send it out to several parties at joymania and related companies/associated parties.

and if they say it wouldnt be useful, well i for one want their dusty junk.

sms and shorthand crap are infesting the world outside of the internet, people are now too lazy to even speak the words "laugh out loud"(probably because it sounds so stupid) so they say lol (sounds equally as stupid) and they dont say "oh my god" they now SAY OMG(sounds stupid)

and others are incredibly worse...

OffTopic: Then we should deprecate e.g., etc. and tonns of other usefull shortcuts (and maybe return to Latin  ). Language is a living thing, you can't set it on "pause" and forbid everyone to improve and adapt it to our modern times.

Not all branches of evolution survive through time and society
Still I see no crime in "btw" and "MAc". Thats IMHO.

I agree with Krom. After all, they are not making money out of emailing me, so why should he spend time checking for mistakes? 'btw' has become common usage and makes his reply seem more personal. If he'd used serious language then it would have been off putting. Using relaxed language makes it less formal, which I think is a good thing. Let's face it, we're not very important to him. About 200 fans of a 10 year old game which is no long making them much money? He must have more important things to deal with.
Anyway, enough analysing his reply, down to business.

Sending Joymania the petition sounds like a good idea. Only one problem: They don't exist any more. :( Maybe we'll have to email Coreplay to contact Peter Ohlmann.
Any ideas?
Lewin.

200 players = too much.

Unreal Tournament 3, the latest Unreal Tournament game = 30 people

Multiwinia, the online version of Darwinia which
I have, was released in around 2008 and it had loads of fans. Number of
people playing it now? Around 10.

Same with Sacrifice, which is a great game, even a bit better than KaM,
only a bit older than Multiwinia. 2 people on lucky days!

Also, Multiwinia, Sacrifice and Unreal Tournament 3 are still being sold...

Lewin.
The only possibilities is to contact Peter Ohlmann at coreplay, or Adam Sprys. Don't know who of them would be better to mail. And please stay a bit ontopic. I hate it when I have to go through all these pages.
