I think he means when you make a new map you can choose to have all of the height initialised to say 20%. This means you can raise and lower areas from the default, rather than only being able to raise them. I think it's a good idea because you can make the elevation look more natural. A lot of people make maps that are mostly all one height (0) with a few mounds and hills raised up from it. This means you can more easily create lower areas on the map, which should make it easier to make maps with elevation more like the original maps, always varying and not mostly at 0 height.

I think he means when you make a new map you can choose to have all of the height initialised to say 20%. Next thing, but about the actual Beta.
If you click "B" the cursor disappears, so you can´t see your cursor until you click on a point at the map. Maybe it would be better, when the cursor changes from "Hand" to "flag" and when you click on a field at the map, the flag lights a little bit and the cursor changes back to "Hand"
You understand what I want to say? :D

That's a bug, it should use the cursor shown on our news post:

I will be fixed in the 2nd release candidate. Unfortunately some versions of Windows can't handle cursors with dimensions bigger than 64 pixels, so I had to trim a bit off the height.

New option in lobby:

Host - the host can decide who to give "hosting"

Now if someone wants to give hosting needs to get out of the lobby and get hosting one who is under him. This option allows the player to place 7 could be a host immediately (and jump to # 1)

I've been thinking for a while that we should find a better way to do kicking than typing commands. I thought you could click on the player's flag/name and a dropdown menu would appear, with options like kick, ban, promote to host, etc.

This menu for each player when you click on their name/flag would only be shown for the host, since other players aren't allowed to kick/ban/promote. Maybe eventually we could have a voting system but I think letting the host choose someone else to would be enough for now.

i've got three more small ideas/sugestions for the game.

1. when in lobby overview, you are able to select games wich currently take place. it shows information about the map, playing time and participating people. is it also possible to display the set peace time value? this way it's easier to estimate when a certain game will finish. most of the times this is less then 30 mins. after peace time. so if a friend is playing in a certain game, you can more easily decide to wait or just start another game..

2. when in the lobby, a minimap is displayed. chosing your location is possible via the dropdown selection menu. but would it be nice too, to select it by clicking one of the black locations markers on the minimap?

3. when in a game, with chat window open. if you want to place a beacon with shortkey B, you'll type b in the chatbox. would it be a better suggestion to change shortkey B to CTRL + B? this way you can also use beacons when you're in the middle of typing a message to an ally instead of closing the chat window and then placing the beacon. (or perhaps i have missed something?)

three minor suggestions, they're not really critical but might improve the UI a bit.
keep up the koop work!

by the way, love the new beacon and battle notifications :D

By the way, what do you think about adding a "description" textfield to lobby options, so you would see a description of the lobby when browsing servers? For example, the host could write here "beginners/pros only", "fight map only", "we love flowers" etc.

Also, I agree with xROELOFx about giving a second option for activating beacon (CTRL+B) while in chat; time left to pt(or later, time after pt) would also be a nice addition but not a must-be for me (I can count, the peacetime is usually 60-65 so it's easy to say when the game is likely to end). I'm not sure if choosing location on the map is really needed.
