still, i think it is useful to be able to talk to people without being inside a server...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit.
The thing will always be with KaM that it will take long to be able to join.
I play LoL and here are the differences:
KaM: small player count and matches varying from 1 to 6hours or maybe even more.
LoL: Huge player count and matches take 15-60min

Our best hope to get into matches faster is by getting more players.(Or make matches go faster)
Yes, you're right, LoL has thousands of players online at the same time, but that doesn't mean that we should just sit down and pray that more players play KaM Remake, instead of doing what we can to ease the problem...
see what i mean?

oh, i see this was already discussed
What about a "public chat" (perhaps it is called a shout box?) in the section where the lobby section is? This could be very useful for organizing games/lobbies inside the remake. The problem with this; though, is that it can be often be misused.

My understanding now is that before they found maize in America, corn would have been used to describe wheat. Therefore it is very suitable for a middle ages game. In German the word for grain is Korn (as far as I can see) and Wikitionary says that the Old English meaning of corn is "a grain or seed". The mission briefings use Old English (thou, thy, etc.) so it makes sense to use the word corn rather than wheat in KaM, it keeps with the middle ages style of language.
Well, appreciations for the language barrier update on UK English compared to American English definition. One thing I forgot was that sometimes, more often than not, between two English speaking countries words have different meaning sometimes to most times.

At least when I go to Wales or England I'll remember to ask upon prompted for breakfast corn what corn I want. :3

Blows my mind sometimes in definition cases like where the word corn even came from and why it was used in KaM translations as such. When what I have known what corn means for so long here in the states seemed an impossibility for a European game set in the Medieval Age to call it that.

Though, if you ever release a help document for the Remake, you could include in there that tid bit to American/Australian English speakers for they're ignorance on the history of why corn is used to label something they think they know never existed in the Medieval Europe. It might solve some misunderstandings in the future.

It's interesting because I've grown up hearing both words, although "wheat" was always the more common one. (if an Australian talks about corn nobody assumes they mean wheat) But I think I can remember books or TV shows (presumably from the UK) calling wheat "corn". I imagine it must be very confusing if you've only heard one meaning for your whole life.

Having been talking to KaM fans for so long, most of whom speak English as a second language, I've become quite used to unusual usage of words and strange ways of expressing things. I've learnt to write in a way that expresses the important meaning of a sentence in the simplest way and does not use any expressions or long words that might confuse people. (a lot of this I've learnt the hard way by having a number of misunderstandings with people which can be quite awkward and frustrating) Although if the person speaks English well, sometimes I try to use unusual words or expressions (like "as the crow flies") to teach them new things :P
It's been quite good for my communication skills I think.
But this is the English forum so I write naturally here :P

Well in Swedish wheat is called "korn" so I think that using the word corn when talking about maize is definitely something Americans came up with. Besides sites such as Wiktionary also point this out.

...and we all know what the Americans did with our dearly beloved football

Not sure if it has been discussed but maybe moving the "Waiting for player" button to the top corner or something rather than the middle of the screen. Not only myself, but I have witnessed many other players click the button by mistake, forcing us to either restart the game, or forfeit the match since one of us decides not to return. Also, there will be an autoreconnect feature for those who get certain errors, correct?

The new version has a 'confirm' button.

Auto reconnect will solve random disconnections, where a player is disconnected from the game with a "network error" or a timeout. It will not solve actual crashes where you are asked to send us a crash report zip, but we have fixed all of the known crashes in r2411 anyway.

Obviously I wouldn't expect this to be of high priority, but can I suggest some more cheats?

What I mean is, I always thought the single-player cheats that you input at the storehouse were a bit lame, since all they could do was give you 10 of everything (which was actually a massive inconvenience) or skip the level.

I'd like to see a "reveal map" cheat that can be inputted at the storehouse like the originals. Also maybe some others like free training of units, insta-build, no hunger, that sort of thing. Just for a bit of fun :)

Also, I just had another idea for a more sophisticated system of production of goods such as weapons. Rather than having the Weapons Workshop make 1 Axe, then 1 Lance, then 1 Bow, etc., it would be cool to be able to make a "weapons queue" or something, where you can specify a queue of weapons to be made and the queue will be looped.

For instance, the queue might be: 1 Axe, 1 Axe, 1 Bow, 1 Axe, 1 Lance

In which case that would be looped instead of just constantly cycling through the different weapons one by one by one.

Even if you don't like the queue idea, I think it would be nice to have a "loop" button that essentially sets the number of weapons to be made to "infinity" (instead of having to place a massive order of 999 axes just to ensure the carpenter doesn't run out of work).

A loop button could also be applied to the Market if you want a trade to be run continuously in the background.

Anyway, just some thoughts, let me know what you think.

New cheats can be added, for now we use the debug cheats to reveal the map etc. You could even add them yourself if you like (after this release) but we should discuss it with Krom first, e.g. how the storehouse pattern should work.

Actually we'd planned a different system for weapons production, you specify a percentage of each weapon that you want made. So I could say I want 30% axes, 10% lances and 60% bows. Then he'll choose them randomly according to those weights.

I'm not sure about the marketplace... we'll see. I'm worried if we add this (and a looping queue for the school) players would forget about it and run out of resources while fighting a battle. But I guess that is their problem not ours :P

I can think of more important things than these (optimised deliveries, improved archer control, etc.) but it's good to have some ideas for the future. (of course you can implement them sooner if you feel like it, just make sure Krom and I agree with the idea first)

That sounds good to me!

New idea?!

Hey,

I have download today the new demo and I must say it is very good. :P
but 2 questions/issues:

1: Do you work/will work on the trade with 2 human players with the tradehouse?

2: maybe a new idea. A display which shows you how many recources you still need to build a house, like in the settler IV?
What do you think?
You aren´t a good player if you have a good PT-Army. You should be able to use it correctly!

1. Yes, maybe in a different building, (trading post) we'll see.
2. I don't think this is necessary.

Updated the start post with 2 new accepted ideas (got them from Lewin), and created a list of ideas that were implemented in the latest demo.
