Got a message that I 'lost' the battle mission, even though I there were both my troops and enemy troops still there. Message came shortly after pausing.

That's very strange, I can't reproduce it. Next time something like that happens, create a save and send me the three files (.sav, .rpl, .bas) Then I can view the replay and figure out what went wrong.
Could you please send me the battle tutorial file (mission99.dat) in your KaM Remake data folder?
