Re: Dynamic Script Mission Competition

The way I see it, if Ben agrees of course, modifying existing maps is ok, as long as the original author agrees (if he can be reached by any means of communication), and as long as the map doesn't score too many points for Map Quality (1 star only?).

Re: Dynamic Script Mission Competition

A modified map isn't going to win, unless the scripting is very good (like, insane good). With 4 months, you guys can easily make a map in that time, especially if you work in teams. I don't see why a remake is needed.

Re: Dynamic Script Mission Competition

OK, fair enough.
I think, you can remove me from the list then. I am definately going for a remake - but I still can work on my idea independent from this contest.

I wish you good luck!

Re: Dynamic Script Mission Competition

Summer has started! (Or well at least it's to get started here), so I'll make a map themed that it's too cold!

So far the spoilers, but in any case sign me up!

Quick small question, is there any way to distuingish cutable trees from not cutable trees and blocking objects (stones) and non blocking objects (shrooms)?

Re: Dynamic Script Mission Competition

The Remake doesn't sort them in any way. If you're unsure of an object, you can always test it.

Some of the largest desert plants will block movement
The two large rocks block movement
The largest coniferous tree is uncuttable
All palm trees are uncutable

That's all that I remember

Re: Dynamic Script Mission Competition

Sadly, I have to retreat for the scripted map competition for now. I'm too busy with other things that I don't have the time to give it the finishing touch: occasionally bugs still occur, which are getting harder and harder to debug (damn, multiplayer is so much harder to debug than singleplayer). For example, in the last game, the first bug occured after 40 minutes. In such cases, it's getting really frustrating to find the cause of a bug if you don't know what caused it and you have a 3400-line-script with dozens of custom procedures :( The other reason is gameplay balancing, since my mission has custom units. This takes considerable hours of gameplay. So, unfortunately for you, I'm too perfectionistic too release it already.

Don't worry. I will release it on the forums as soon as it's finished in a few weeks! (H)
