I do know how annoying it can be as an user. sometimes there is being reacted on topics that are dead for a long time, and not really relevant anymore. some people also bump very old problem topics that are solved already, wich would fall under your category of pointless posts.

There is something to say for both sides. However, I wouldn't say it's a coincidence that a lot of forums have rules that disallow people necro-posting.

In this case posting in this topic doesn't make much sense anymore since Fried Chicken is away for quite some time already. Regarding to some topics discussing an idea or something like that its a different story in my opinion.
