About

This website dates back to early 2005, and during the years there have been several changes made in order to cope with changes that have happened in both web development and the Knights and Merchants community itself. Read all about it here.

History

In late 2003 I suddenly got the idea to check the if there were any active fansites about Knights and Merchants. I spent some hours searching, and the only sites that turned up were all in another language than English. This quite saddened me, as I realized there was no actual English Knights and Merchants community out there. Back then I was not even considering creating a website myself, but things changed...

So in 2004 I thought that if there was no English community, why not make one? Seeing as the game was already quite old at this point I knew it would be hard to form a community, but I gave it a shot anyways. Slowly but surely I managed to get something that started resembling a website, and so in January 2005, the first version of this website was put online. At this point the website was still very poor on the content, and I wasn't sure if I should keep creating/maintaining the website.

This version of the website did not stay for long. The Knight, webmaster of Knights and Merchants DE, realized that an English website was important, and wanted to give me a helping hand in the development of the website. He started working on a new layout for this website (!), and during the end of February he sent me what he had achieved. The new layout sure did look a lot better than the one I was using before it.

The website has not been that actively updated during the years 2006 and 2007, with some updates done every now and then. Still, I think the forums are quite active considering that the game is quite old already and that there are numerous other fansites for this game (in other languages though).

From 2008 the forum became more active because of the work that Lewin and Krom put into their Remake of Knights and Merchants. They continued their work over the years, and now (mid 2013) the Remake is a really good mod and has gained a lot of popularity. Since this site wasn't frequently updated anymore (because of so little spare time and because it was hard to maintain (pure HTML)), T*AnTi-V!RuZz offered to develop a new website based on a CMS for easy maintenance. The new site was launched in the beginning of 2012, was then maintained by T*AnTi-V!RuZz and is now maintained by the KaM.net council.
