Thank you all for your patience! After three weeks of tireless work by our beta testers we are finally ready to bring you the 4th Multiplayer Demo. You can find it on the downloads page:
http://www.kamremake.com/download/

We now have a total of 18 languages supported, with 5 new translations added in this update (Estonian, Bulgarian, Romanian, Lithuanian and Ukrainian). Thank you to all our translators who put so much effort into ensuring the game can be enjoyed by everyone.

A huge thank you to our beta testers, they helped find over 30 bugs! Thanks also to community map makers, because of them this release has 92 multiplayer maps (our first release had just 21).

Major changes:

- AI can build a small village to make food (we haven’t done the military side yet)
- Minimap preview in the lobby showing which player has selected each location
- Player names are colored (plus general support for color coding chat messages)
- Road/field plans appear instantly in multiplayer regardless of network delay (houses coming soon too)
- Smarter deliveries and build queues, now the closest labourer/serf will always take the job
- High quality shadows for units and trees (houses not working yet)
- Support for smaller resolutions (1024×576, 1024×600, 1280×720, etc.)
- Faster loading (should mean less players are dropped due to loading taking too long)
- You can only run one copy of the application at once to prevent multiplayer cheating
- Road/house plans only appear for allies to prevent multiplayer cheating by blocking your enemy
- Smoother speed up
- Archers are a bit less powerful
- 5 new translations: Estonian, Bulgarian, Romanian, Lithuanian and Ukrainian
- 44 new multiplayer maps (92 total)
- Existing maps improved and fixed
- Error reporting now uses madExcept which lets you send the crash report to us easily and gives us better information about the crash
- Our master server records which multiplayer maps are played, so we can add features to this site like “top 10 maps list” (coming soon!)

We hope you enjoy the new version! Please report any issues to us :)
Lewin and Krom.

If I try to install the update it says I don't have KaM Remake installed. Not a real problem as I downloaded the full installation program but I just wanted to let you know.
Great improvements. :)

That's because you have the release candidate installed. The updater only updates official releases.
Thanks! :)

That's what I suspected, so I first installed r2676 over it, but that didn't work either. But I just checked the download archive and found out that r2678 was the official release, not r2676.
Oh, the sillyness! :)

Haha yeah it's confusing when you get sent so many different testing versions :P
It's a good idea to fresh install the new version if you had a beta version before, because the beta version will contain maps that were deleted/renamed and they will still be there after updating. We only update these things for the official releases, otherwise it's too many files to keep track of.

Thanks for the cake Mulberry :P

Awsome version! I really like the new Ai, building small towns and all that! And also the map preiew feature. I really hope to see more work on the ai in the future cause its starting to look awsome :D! Me and a friend long for the day we can fight together against ai together on a none "co-op" map :)

Ahh ok. thx

EDIT: Today and yesterday i have played a few Missions with my Dad :D He is playing on my old PC. a good pc from 2003/2005 i think. some new games are playable. KaM tpr was without any problems. and the older versions of the remake was without problems, too.
But now, we have played 1vs1 without and than with AI. And he said, that is unplayable..i have saw on the manager..and there was a constant cpu of 98-100%.
is this normal, do you know about this huge performance ""problem""?

It's normal for the Remake to consume 100% of one core on your CPU, it renders more FPS if there is free CPU time. The Remake will use more CPU than KaM TPR, we've used smarter but more CPU costly algorithms in many cases. For example, in KaM members of a group would just do what the commander did, in the Remake they each have a mind of their own and find their own route. Also our deliveries are much assigned in a smarter way.

I'd need to see some specs about the computer to judge whether it should run the Remake, but a 2003/2005 era computer should.

The AI is very inefficient at the moment so you would expect lag with the AI. Without the AI it should run alright on old computers, although performance will drop as you build more and more stuff.
We would like to make it run on old computers so we are interested in your feedback.

KaM Remake uses just one core because it is very hard to parallelize most of tasks due to game design suited for MP, where everything depends on everything. It is right many AI algoritms are greedy and take much CPU time, which is noticeable on older PCs. We keep on working on many features at once, and we do devote time to code optimizations, so hopefully next versions will run smoother.

Please give us your dads PC specs (cpu, ram, gpu) so we could estimate.
