I must agree with caykroyd: Rome total war was much better in my opinion.
Medieval 2: Total War had great improvements to gameplay, but the entire theme of Rome Total war was much better. Plus, I preferred the "brighter" graphics; if you follow my meaning.

Re: Medieval 2: Total War
rome was the biggest gem in the series, medieval was oke.it added many nice things but also changed some stuff that rly shouldnt have been changed.
after rome they series also started suffering from not enough unit variety(the different units not feeling very different at all)in medieval this was only a little the case, the following total wars all had it and shogun 2 has it to a point where its extremely dissapointing

I might try Rome 2, but I don't know. New games are way too expensive. Not to mention I'll need a better computer.

Re: Medieval 2: Total War
Well, after few weeks of playing Rome 2, I think this is the best one i ever played. At beginnig its not that clear, but when you figure out how to keep town far away fron starvation, the campaign is really cool. And what about battles? Yep, its not that clear as last Rome TW because of units' behavior, but actually, it depends on you how fast you learn to recognize situation on so realistic battles
Controlling units actually is very simple, nearly as much simple as in last Rome. And finally, there are two new pros. Connected land and sea battles, and visibility (I mean that here you cannot see units over the hills, forests, etc.) My final opinion is very good. That was surely the best spent 40 bucks on games that i have ever done

Re: Medieval 2: Total War
I love pretty much all the total war games untill a few years ago..
Rome total war was the best.. A new revolution in gaming..
Medieval 2 was as good as rome because of the gameplay.. A few bad things to it like that you could not set your faction heir anymore and stuff like that but i little bit more better gameplay then rome. I prefer Medieval just because i played rome to much..
Empire just didnt had the total war series feel to it.. The naval battles were a huge bummer for me... Expectex something way cooler...
rome 2 is in my opinion a very big failure.. just like the last shogun.. Im not a huge gamer.. So i dont have a gamer pc, and if u dont have a gamer pc u cant play these games on average settings. This took away the fun of playing.
Im so hoping for the next total war to get back to were they came from and rebuild it into modern age gaming..

Re: Medieval 2: Total War
Well Rome 2 Total War disappointed me a lot! Guess I had to high expections... Still playing Medieval 2 Total War though. And they are creating a Total War game called Warhammer, never heard about this theme, I thought they were sticking to the reality and history, like I was expecting that they were planning a Total War theme in The New World, like in AoE3, would be nice
