I've completed it before, but i just can't get it.
I've attempted well over 10 times and each time resulted in a failure.

In most fighting missions you organize your troops and then you wait for the enemy to walk into your units. However, if you do that in this mission, you will make it very difficult for yourself. There is a trick to make it much, MUCH easier. At the start you have enough time to kill the purple troops before the green army comes to get you. Do it this way and you are very likely to win easily.
