Multiple postings should be deleted

I've found a plenty of copies from the same posting e.g. from el_gonzo, in February 2009. Those and all similar to those should have been immediately deleted. Even animals don't grunt twice if they want to share something.

Multiple postings are generally disallowed at forums to prevent unnecessary bumping or bandwidth consumption. However, I don't see either of them being a problem here so I usually just delete/lock threads that have the same subject and are posted by the same person.

It would make it a lot easier if phpBB2 actually had a function to merge threads, but I guess I'm not so lucky.

I think a member should never be allowed to post more than one message following each other in the same topic, except for a plenty of time gone by. Editing can perfectly substitute that. I accept though, that you're bound to use PHPBB 2 instead of 3 for some reasons I'm not involved in.

The thing is, I don't feel like manually merging double posts that someone makes. If there was a script that did it, I'd be all for it.

As for changing to phpBB3, well I could do that but it would mean losing all posts on this forum (I'm not hosting the forum). The current host says migrating to phpBB3 will be possible "in the future"... which we all know could mean pretty much anything. :P

How do you mean this? How much does a spamming script differ from a spamming human?

I think he means a script that does the merging
