Request: Music Folder
PostPosted: 06 Feb 2009, 00:57

Hi.
My muskic folder got all messed up. I have SR2 installed on my computer (SR3 crashes more then SR2 for me) and I would love to have the KaM music again. I have them on a playlist but that slows down my computer if I have it running.
Thanks.

Service Release 3 crashes for you? Is there anything specifically that causes these crashes and which version of Windows are you running (98, 2000, XP, Vista etc.)?
I think there was a previous request for the music folder and Lewin uploaded it somewhere. Let me see if I can find it...

You will have to rename all songs though.
TPR 1.mp3 --> track_00.sng
TPR 2.mp3 --> track_01.sng
Lute.mp3 --> track_02.sng
Middleage Horn.mp3.mp3 --> track_03.sng
TPR 3.mp3 --> track_04.sng
Deep Blue.mp3 --> track_05.sng
Mercenary.mp3 --> track_06.sng
The Princess.mp3 --> track_07.sng
The Queen.mp3 --> track_08.sng
On The Marketplace.mp3 (or something like that) --> track_09.sng
On The Battlefield.mp3 --> track_10.sng
Dance At Court.mp3 --> track_11.sng
Busy.mp3 --> track_12.sng
TPR 4.mp3 --> track_13.sng
At Court.mp3 --> track_14.sng
Lewin's mp3 files' quality is better than the quality from the original sng files, so messing up your music folder is good business!

I tried to rename those .mp3 files but it didn't work (then it was like track_00.sng.mp3). Afeter that I tried to save those mp3 by notepad to .sng files. That didn't work either.
Could anyone tell me how should I replace those .sng files by Lewin's mp3 files?

If you have the real file extensions hidden, you can enable them by going to My Computer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> Hide extensions for known filetypes (Uncheck it).
But then again, if they are real MP3 files (not renamed MP2 files) the game will have problems changing track once the previous one has finished playing IIRC.

Thanks Litude! Now those high quality tracks work.
But as you warned about problems: cd-player keeps playing the music when it shouldn't play (at videos, when the mission info is read to you, everything).
And when video voices & music sound together, it's annoying and you can't understand speech if you're watching any video which includes it.
I guess this can't be fixed? Luckily, I can always turn music off in game settings --> watch video(s) --> and then turn it back on when I start to play. Of course, it would be nice if I wouldn't have to do that every time.

Converting them to MP2 files should fix it.
Audacity is free and capable of doing this.

Thanks again Litude!
The cd-palyer isn't playing music at wrong time any more. I liked very much about Audacity, that's a good program. Now my TPR music is much better than before.

I even replaced the last track (At Court ) with The Spirit, which is my favourite KaM track.
One question more: Is it possible to add more than 15 tracks to TPR (maybe all 22)?

Yeah, check the 1.60 beta patch subforums and download the latest English beta and you should be set

.
But you should have the original tracks whilst patching, otherwise you'll end up with a duplicate of some tracks.

I play the whole game through first - I haven't played it yet.
Then I'll try the beta.

Audacity is a sound editor. Just open the MP3 file then click Save As and choose MP2 as the file format.

I click on "Save project as" (there is no save as) and click on save as what file type and there are no mp3/mp3 files. I would put an image down of what I'm doing but I don't know how insert images.[/img]

You need to choose export from the file menu.
