New house sprite in progress!

Hello all! I'm supporting the source code petition and the idea to mod in KaM, so I started "preparing" for it already! ^^

I had an idea to make all houses and units into "Arabian" style. Something like from Stronghold Crusader, if you know how houses look like there. So I started first with the Storehouse. This is a "model" of the house. Darker red lines means "that's behind" and lighter means "it's in front". Dark blue is enterance.

Maybe I won't be able to do all the animations by myself, so maybe I'll need some help with that, if someone knows how to do it.
You can also start making some house "models" if you want, I'll paint it for you in PhotoImpactX3.

So, what do you think about the storehouse?

I know how the animations work, but the only way that I know to make them is very slow (by hand, pixel-by-pixel)
Maybe I could make a program that makes a GIF or Ani-PNG into a normal sprite + animation data, but I'm not promising anything (I'll look into it)

Are you sure that "lighter means in front"? That would mean that what appears to be the backside of the circle-shaped thing is actually the upper half of an ellipse.. hm.. that would be odd..

ps: the red-on-blue combination kinda hurts my eyes..

Ok, thanks.

Ahh, I made a mistake, I know what you think, I forgot to fix that. But it doesn't matter that much, you get the picture, you know how the base looks.

Hehe, sorry about that, but it seems to me that red shows off better with that background. :P

Maybe it's just me, but I see it more clearly on the transparent (so black on this forum) background. On the blue one, the blue kinda "blurs" the red away (that's how sharp that contrast looks to me). I only see the red lines clearly at the exact place that I'm looking at.. The black one (transparent) looks all normal

I'll try to get a gif -> KaM animation converter to work, I'll let you know how it goes..

edit: hm.. no test data.. and I'm not going to trust my program without debugging it first.. Do you have an animated GIF of your new house being build? Each new frame should contain the next "building step". Wood-building and stone-building should be 2 separate files. Every frame must have the same size (and the building must be at the same place on the picture every frame) but the interval is not important.

I think I know what you mean, well... I don't have it done yet, but I will do it when I finish the whole house, with painting. First I will do the "stone" base, after that I'll make "timber" base.

Looks great, I hope you are able to let it look like other KaM buildings!

*sigh*...
That's the problem, I'm trying to get their style, but it seems I fail at it... but I'll try something else! Instead of changing every building into Arabian theme, I'll try to make new houses! I already have some ideas, but I still need to work on their use. I'll try to combine my ideas with those unused houses from beta and see what I get.
Beta Units & Buildings

Hmm, does someone maybe knows what was Joymania using for drawing and painting?

An interesting project you have there, keep it up! :)

This may not be of much help, but I don't think we'll be getting any more in-depth information.

I had a thought - why don't KaM remakes (mine and TKE) had this in mind - allowing to mod houses :)
That would be great, to have MP game of e.g. Germans vs. Arabs )

That's a very good idea Krom. Although probably not the top priority for the remakers.
