Unorthodox army composition

Hello everyone !

As we play over the years, building phase is getting pretty boring, mainly bacause swords+bows combo is still the strongest and the most popular one. In the recent games I noticed that a lot of people are trying to do something else just for the sake of change. So I decided to make this topic solely for this. It's not a competition for the strongest nor biggest army, just fun little spot for crazy combinations. :)

Do you ever play with Mr. Fu? A few months ago he was really enjoying a build that made an army similar to the one posted. You may find it interesting ;)

here are some of my more alternative builds:

here i went iron only during pt with an after pt leather production

On locations with 2 iron mines i find making xbow with a few knights a lot more effective than making swords
bsstrat2.jpg
i had 5 iron mines on this loc and i felt like doing some nonsense army but it actually worked really well
you just can't engage on 80 xbows and a few pikes+lance.

Wow, I was thinking about that thread when I saw this, but I couldn't immediately recall the thread name and then I forgot about finding it for him.

Thanks for pointing that out, Tiank!

Have you thought about trying a full melee composition?
It looks interesting on paper and I've had some fun with it against the AI, but couldn't pitch it against a real opponent...

One example for unortodox army composition which actually has enough power versus the classical knights+swordman+bowman combo too. (thinking in 60minutes  )
Screenshot 2017-07-10 11-34-52.jpg
Advantage:
Better spam than KN+SW+BO+LA;
it can work in several situations.
Less farms can support making barbs, but need more gold.

Diasadvantage:
Need larger gold production,
The 2 metalurgists are not enough to support the huge spam.
Zero armor --> less defensive strategy.
Similar basebuilt up cost than KN+SW+BO+LA.
Barbarian use Leather 1jacket +2swords.-> less sworman and less leather shielded units.

(there is possbility to install stable and additional farms to make mounted troops-)

Yes and actually he was the first who got me into this idea because of his "little bit of everything" style he plays . :)

I might try this. Feel like it could be very strong rush army.

And ye there is the same older topic but mods havent closed this yet so Im gonna continue here nevertheless
