Well, I was just going through some posts as I noticed that there is a map database?
Really? Thats so asome! But why do I need like 2 years to notice it?
Its just so hidden up there!
I would sugest to make it more visible. Give it more room, so people (who just take one glance at the forum) actually can find it!
Like in the annopool.de for example. Anno1602 is also quiet the oldi, but maps there get over 3 downloads a day. It doesnt say who many downloads we got for the kam maps but I guess not many, as hidden as it is.
I think charing maps will keep the community alive, and we do have a tool for it, but its just forgotten/hardly used.

So please do st about the map database! I cant offer any help, as I dont have any skills, which could be usefull for that.

So the only thing I can do, is remind u, there is the map database check it out! Download stuff, play kam, rate, upload maps u got!


I will as soon as I get home, and find out if there are any hiddin sp gems!

Quite strangely, KaM Remake became MP game. There are very few SP maps and campaigns.

In MP though, new maps can be sent between players directly - so there's no need for an MP map database (unless to provide a centralized "point of truth", cos anyone can edit an MP map and add unfair advantages)

Well, i disagree, that KaM Remake became a MP game. Its just that only the MP community is more visible than the single player. And there is hardly a base for SP if the possibilities to share and exchange maps are so hidden.
Let me give u an example, aasfresser makes really nice SP maps, I test all of his maps so I know. But in the maps creations his thread is dropping down, so after a while noone will look at his maps, if the mapdatabase would be in use this would not be a problem.
And "the point of truth" could also become handy, cause I got a ton of crap/cheated maps in my download folder (happens if u play on public mostly)

All I am suggesting is: make that button bigger! Visible, so people take notice of the possibility!
The map database is there and its a shame its hardly used.

SP people are invisible, because MP people are the ones who usually sit on the forums etc. SP players, in my opinion, will not be likely to know about a map database on these forums no matter how visible on the site it will be.

Unless the database would become somehow integrated with the game itself. That's where SP people would be far more likely to look imho.

About the map database, I uploaded a 'v2' sometime ago but in truth v1 was actually better and I haven't paid any attention to it anymore.
To be honest I was actually considering about removing the map database or maybe replacing it with some sort of standard software but I haven't decided yet.

Come to think of it, maybe it's better to integrate it with our main website instead of the forum..

I do think so. True but my guess is, that that needs a lot of work, so it is probably out of reach right now.
How about having the map database on the main website and the link to it in the game in the SP menu?
Like: More maps under http://www.knightsandmerchants.net/mapdatabase
Or st like that. This might be an easy way to make it known...
