Serfs not retrieving items from far away storehouse

I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find anything about it and it's driving me crazy.
I'm currently playing the 6th mission in TPR where you 'have' to defend a storehouse that's pretty far away, so far I've defended it and built a path to it but my serfs simply don't bother getting the items.
I've got about 80 serfs atm and I'd really like the iron plates/weapons.

edit: Ugh the path wasn't complete, 1 tile was blocked by a tree. Any way to delete this topic?
