Yep, Delphi all the way!
As time goes I'm thinking more and more about switching to C++, it has much bigger market.
For the KP though, we already have a few HUNDREDS of thousands of lines of code. Rewriting all that into another language would take a year and gives little to no benefit. Delphi is already cool language capable of almost everything we need now and might need in future (Android, iOS, etc.)
Using a ready-made engine is an option too, but again, we alreay have a lot of a working game, porting that would waste a lot of time. Besides, as we always state - it's a hobby project, we enjoy doing it
Good to know
When I'm done with javascript, php and asp.net, I'll open a delphi book.
And I know some people on the university, including someone who is studying artificial intelligence.
I'm not promising anything, but maybe he can help me program a competitive AI that can build from scratch with multiple possible strategies.
Like the turtle, or the rusher, etc.
And if that works, KP could get it as well.
But that is all at least a month away.
Again, no promises, just vague distant dreams.
ow and I had another idea.
In most RTS games you can build a second base.
In KP something similar could be done, like you can place a blueprint for a wagon. it needs 10 wood, 10 stone.
You can fill the wagon with food, servants and builders till a max of 100 food. 5 builders, 5 servants.
That wagon can ride to somewhere and deploys into a base camp.
thus creating a second village.
Since it's not connected to the first camp it needs to be build on it's own.
where was that idea thread again?
