Daft Punk are the classics of the genre, and it's one of the bands that I consider fathers of electronic music as we know it today. And all the hype about Tron soundtrack was well-deserved, it was quite different from their previous works, but very good, maybe even the best of their recordings. I'd love to see their gig - unfortunately there's not much chance for that nowadays, they didn't have one since ~6 years I think
I guess it's my turn. I am in ~70% an electronic music guy and in ~30% rock/metal guy. It's somewhat logical then, that my favourite band is
The Prodigy, since their music can be described as a blend of powerful, bassy electronic music, with raw power of electronic guitars. Best known in 90s for their hits like Voodoo People,
Breathe,
Firestarter, Smack My Bitch Up, later known also for
Spitfire,
Omen, and
Take Me To The Hospital. If you like heavy music, you have to see them at a concert when you can. If you prefer chill out tracks, you might check out Climbatize, Stand Up or Narayan.
Worth mentioning are also Noisia, Bassnectar, Skream, The Chemical Brothers, (and finally some metal) Metallica, Rammstein and AC/DC.
