Hello,

how do you imagine battle behind the trees in extremely deep forest? I decided to create map like this.
What do you think?

This is crazy, but interesting idea! But I think the forest should be less deep, so we can actually see our troops.

Maybe put little trees at first in most places (these in earliest growth development). It tooks about 10 minutes for trees to fully grow (or even less), so most battles would end by then (especially on such a small map).

Maybe few little glades would be okay as well.

Try to improve it like that, because now it's unplayable in my opinion.

I'm really looking forward to it!

Edit: Remember, that trees are being treated as obstacles, so units can't figh diagonally through them. So they shouldn't be so close to each other. In some places - I think yes. But not on the whole map.

Thanks for feedback!
I made forest less deep and added some more armies.

Now it looks much better! ;) At least trees aren't in every tile :D

In my opinion it looks worse now... You need to find a good balance between groups of really dense forest, where's it's hard to see our troops, normal density and glades. Putting trees so close to each other (especially different ones) doesn't look nice. It needs some work to make it right, but keep trying. Maybe try sticking with 2 or 3 types of trees (now you put almost all types in random places).

Something like that about density: red - high density, yellow - normal, blue - glades.

I think that each type of trees should be close to each other, some places should have mixed type of trees, but not just randomly all types all over the map.

I still think this map is promising, just needs some more work :).

Edit: I liked that four glades in troops' starting position at previous version of your map. They were obvious glades in dense forest and they looked nice, maybe with some objects in it or few small trees would be even better.

Yep. Agree with TianK. First version was just stupid set of trees in EVERY tile :D Version 1.1 is better but trees mix looks strange... again just set of trees? ;) Try to improve it, work on density. And these glades, the best thing of 1st version :D

heh, Crazy Place... Classic "fogged" map :D

I'd add some hills, maybe little lakes here, to make map more "natural" ;)

It looks better now, but I still miss these glades at players' starting locs from first version. I don't think lakes are necessary here, it's forest after all :). Some hills would be nice though.

You should work on this map for some more time. Deep forest idea is good, but it needs to be well planned on map. It takes time to find good balance of forest density. For now, there're too many glades and it breaks the idea of deep forest. There're too many trees too close to each other in my opinion. I can see randomnees in putting trees as well and that's not good.

Keep working :).

This map needs more elevation and less (randomly placed) objects. Right now it looks a bit like Bannockburn.
