What is the proper name for resources/wares in KaM?

I want to make a poll about the name we call resources in KaM. Original game called them "wares" and Remake uses both "wares" and "resources" and sometimes "goods". Which one is better in your opinion?

IMO "Resources" is a bit generic, your buildings or soldiers could be called your "resources", but you could not call them your "wares" or "goods".
"Goods" is probably the most technically correct term, in economics it seems to be things that are produced, traded/sold and consumed.
"Wares" not too bad either, but it's not usually not used for stuff like food, but more stuff like "glassware".

In my head I usually call them resources or sometimes wares.

@Lewin: This poll partially relates with scripting, cos we have all three names in there: StatResourceProducedCount, GiveWares, GetGoodsProduced.

The correct answer is wares. Anyone who says otherwise is a noob and should be playing Age of Empires; not KaM....

Just kidding :P But honestly, I think that wares is the "correct" answer would be wares for the English version, since the game refers to them as wares (e.g., the menu "To distribution of wares.") Likewise, KaM has corn, not wheat; lance-carriers, not spearmen; and bowmen, not archers.

For me, this isn't a huge problem, but using several different names can be confusing when people are trying to translate. Additionally-- as you, Krom, have already pointed out-- there will be a need for a consistent name for scripting.

Haha. I know they aren't official names, but I always call all of those three the incorrect term. :)

Lewin is correct, resources can also be your recruits to hire soldiers or even the labour the citizens perform is called the resource ''labour'' in terms of economics. And in economics the correct terms is goods to define stuff you make/buy/sell, unless (a bit too technical) it is a thing like houses wich are called different.
Wares is also used a lot in terms of business, but for kam i do not care if it is goods or wares. resources is a bit....nah let's not do resources.

Thank you, Krom! And Thanks for your continued diligence with the Remake :)

So I take it that you are going to use wares?

Being a 'KaM conservative', I choose for wares. ;)
and bowmen, not archers.
Actually, they're called archers, not bowmen. :D

I'd also stick with wares since it's the original KaM term for them.

No, they're definitely called "Bowmen" in my English versions of TSK and TPR... (I just checked both)
The most obvious ones to me are "swordfighter" instead of "swordsman" and "axefighter" instead of "axemen". It's a poor translation and probably sounds odd to people who don't play KaM, but I've been calling them axefighters for so long that I couldn't think of them as anything else :P

@Lewin: I got used to a little wrong names being part of the KaM universe. We should definitely keep it that way :)

Then why did "iron armament" get changed to "iron armor"? I know that armaments can be applied to any kind of weapon, but I was very disappointed to see this change, because I agree with what you say about KaM's odd way of naming things :)

Oh, and I should add that this name change was applied in the SRs ;)

EDIT:

Indeed, this is off topic, but that's where the conversation went, right? :)

:O

All this time... I've called them 'archers' a million times. What a shame. In exile I must go. :P
