Re: Planned market changes

I'm very happy with tree trunk trade rates and such, but yesterday I traded a lot of different stuff for gold and I think it's all very cheap. 1 axe/lance/bow/leather armour = 1 gold chest. I also traded bread for gold chests (2 --> 1) and weapons for iron ore (1 --> 1). I don't really mind because it was late in the game, but it's pretty cheap. :P

Re: Planned market changes

It's cheap but not op, goldsmelters work still faster than trading.
You realy want the market removed don't you? :D

Re: Planned market changes

No, I do realize it is necessary when you run out of gold, but this seems just too cheap. ;)

Re: Planned market changes

It's still better than it was, because it doesn't affect early game, and gold is one of the nastiest things that can end a game, so I'm happy it can be quite easily traded for.

Re: Planned market changes

I, too, am very pleased with the new market changes. I've played several games on several different maps (using the marketplace with each one), and I have no qualms with trunks or coal. I thought that wooden weapons and leather armor are worth a good amount, but I couldn't trade them. I originally thought that it was because you still can't pull weapons out of the barrack, but with everyone talking about weapon trades, maybe it was actually because I had too few serfs?
I used to spam this forum so much...

Re: Planned market changes

First thing I noticed: Building is so much easier now, instead of having a complex way to set your woodproduction up now you just rush for 10 woodcutters and the job is done.
Second thing: Games last much longer, last 3 games I played lasted for 2:30h, instead of the usualy 1:30h-2:00h. (Actualy the games ends when we run out of coal, gold.)

Now the question, is this better?

Re: Planned market changes

Yes, rushing for 10 woodcutters will definately make sure you won't run out of timber; however, you will be much slower with farms and mines. The challenge is to make it all fit perfectly.

Re: Planned market changes

So how can you say it is much easier if you succeeded like once or twice and failed all other times? :D
Anyway this is a useless discussion, I'll try not to reply anymore for the topic's sake. :P

Re: Planned market changes

Hi!
In this week i played some fun(-nonstandard)games, and i tried out many version of the market.

First time i saw shield seems to cheap so i decide to make 2 shieldmaker. One was next to the market and one was nearly the barrack. i had two trades and the all other shield went to the barrack. I failed.Across the desert Loc3.
*I think need some development to the perfect markeet and to the wide trades.
-If possible to controll wares of the barrack-->Can control what kind of wares into barrack, it can be possible two or three barrack->more longer games.(one barrack made only militia, another one made only range)
-Be possible to take out weapons from barrack. (Example you had 20pikes in the barracks but no more iron or coal, and want to trade that pikes some other weapons or any other things... )
-and control the inns wares same the storeHouse.

Next game was on multiland location6 where i tried to trade with only axes. Well i failed again. Axes trade to iron and iron weapons...Same problem than shields. I couldnt control to the axes where to transport-barrack or market.

Last versions of the market the payers could make 40 or more horses. Well i tried it out more than 3kind of ways. The result was nearly same:):)
Here is pictures:
first pic: play with stables and swinefarm.
second pic: Without stables. Golden Cliffs loc5
third pic:Play without goldmine, Golden Cliffs loc5.

experiences:
-oh and i felt the knights are easier to make than scouts;)
-average10-15knights in PT. I will try out with only scouts too:)

My favorite from this list is the play without goldmine!

In other normal game what i see (and what i played) the players dont build market in the PT. So market and his little mistake correction doesnt work realy well in the early game, or dont be any early mistake there?.
I think the market is Overused in the endgames some maps (2-3 market/location).

I like better the previous version of the market. And missed 40horses before PT:( -its not the best tactic way, but fun...

Now do the most games seem to before without Market?

The market never be balanced maximum unusable, and finaly need to delete from the game because unusable...
Market can be better than all house. (For example: can trade easily 1-2horses/min or more. its faster than one stable/maybe two-and wont have starvation...)

PS.:
Maybe the best market should has not fixed prices. An algorythm what is counted the rersources on the map and divide with numbers of players(who will play), and calculate the prices. If the map has not enough coal then coal will be expensive...
Every map will have other prices...I know its only a dreamversion...Sorry i ate a lot sugar now... :) :) :) :) :D

Re: Planned market changes

It's on our todo list to make serfs take weapons out of the barracks for trading at the market.
