I think i have get out something about the unit.dat , but im not sure!

I've replaced all 35 (in Hex 23) with 255 (in HEx 255) and ive seen, that a militia was able to kill crossbowmans and mowmans with one strike.
Im know, the Attack from a militia is 2 "swords" ( 35 ATK-Points ), so ive changed them to 255.
Now every soldier with an axe have 255 ATK-Points. I havent tried it out with other soldiers, but im sure, it works , too.

But remember, im not sure about this, u should trie it out, too (BACKUP!!!)

But when if seen it i was very pleased about!

EDIT: Now i know, it right! One of mi militia have killed a lancecarrier, a bowman and an axefighter with 1-2 strikes! If i would know the Attack Points of the other soldiers, i could change them too!
The defend-points are the same like in the pergament-graphic! So feel free to try it out! :D

2. EDIT: If changed the defend-points from 1 to 255 (in Hexeditor) It's incredible: A militia fight with a militia over 10 minutes! If i get out more, i will report it for u! :D

THIS IS AWESOME PROGRESS!!!!!
Okay, sorry for screaming. :)

I couldn't imagine you would make progress like this one 2 days!! I see there are still some unknown values, but I'm sure you will find out how to do this! It seems like about 80% has already been figured out! :)

Hitandrun, do you have some experience scripting missions?

That unit.dat progress is also quite nice, but we'd need to find out the exact positions of the unit stats because replacing all those values isn't a good idea. :D

no, never scripted missions but aren't that bad at programming, i know most of the unexplained numbers account for the behaviour of the AI ever seen the AI create 1 archer move it to location, then 1 spearman, milita etc this is likley caused by the same value being used (all having the same importance).

I somehow doubt that those units.dat, houses.dat etc. have a similar construction as the mission files, ie. that they would be encrypted.

What we would really need is someone with programming skills and motivation to make some editing tools if we manage to decode these files! :D

But what is more difficult?
Script programmes to edit files or decryptin them?
We'll see.

BUt i think, that unit.dat the most important file for this game is, so, if we had decrypted them, we could (almost) cnage the whole game. (Att, Def, Speed of Units)

Doing a real overhaul would also require knowledge of the graphics files. I know that free_sms_km did manage to decode these files, but unfortunately he never released these discoveries into the public.

Maybe I'll someday find the time to e-mail him. Now I'm trying to see if I can find another host for the website.

Why do these files need to be edited? to make a mission editor/ map only the mission file would need to be created /edited and saved KAM should alreeady append the unit.dat to the mission parameters in a single player mission
