Some "group of players" become more closer due to the Skype meetings.
I'm part of this group, which we talk often in the so called "Skype conferences".

So it mustn't be just that you are considered "average", is that you also aren't part of the Skype group.
The only positive thing I see in Skype is that people talks and analyzes stuff that happens in Forum, then we all opin.
We might laugh or complain about someone, and that is heard by everyone (different country accents).

However 1 thing for sure: Skype players try to play together, because is funny to comment stuff while you build your city, and then even more to bluff about defenses or real size armies. :p

Depending how many Skype players are connected, then the resting slots are filled with remaining "non-Skype" players.
In which often the strongest are chosen, tough I don't mind playing with weaker players too (if strenghts are well distributed).

Am I in favour with this hosting procedure? :|
Everything depends on who is the Host really... I'm the type that accepts everyone as a comrade-in-arms.

I was angry , I still am really disappointed.

The thing on skype players: I have skype as well.To TDL, you were in that lobby........ That explains? To Shadoe: Trying to avoid those people in the RC is impossible :P In that case i don't even have an oppertunity to play.

I accept everyone (I'm not a good player myself) except spammers/annoying people/people that kick me without reasons, and there are other peoples out there who do it, indeed a lot of players on the RC don't give you the opportunity to play, but there are some nice people around there ! I had two games today, and didn't kick anyone, and both of these games were fun, trust me :p

No it doesn't, as I said I didn't know you were kicked. At first there were 8 players in the lobby, then I refreshed, then there were 7. I joined. That's all that happened. Wouldn't you join if there was a slot free? Try to see it from my point of view.

Hmm from your point of view I would have done the same. I was really frustrated when I wrote that, and I want to apologize for putting you in a negative light.

Thanks for those words, I appreciate your apologies. :)
You can put me in a negative light any day, but only if you have a good reason. ;)

I must admit I've seen so called "professional" KaM players be rude and non-inclusive to less experienced players too. If you've organised a game and are waiting for another player that's fair enough, but you can just politely say "sorry we're waiting for a friend", there's no need to treat people like idiots because they are not as good at KaM as you are. Most situations can be resolved politely without offending anyone.

The majority of players are really nice but there are one or two who can be very unpleasant if they take a disliking to you for whatever reason. I'd say some people think they're important and take themselves too seriously.

Don't be put off by it, they're no more important than you are despite what they might think of themselves ;)
I agree, some people are jerks who think they are so important, and also when those kids are kicked they often cry too.
infact there is this one jerk named Matt who always kicks people for NO reason ALL THE TIME, and I THINK he is a jerk , I mean WHY should I be kicked ,
Matt should not be able to kick anyone as host and he isn't allowed to play with who he wants.
Its whoever joins has the right to stay, even if that slot is reserved for one of his friends!!

I know that with 1 or 2 people you mean me and Matt, but let me tell you:
I agree (again) with Matt. Ok I may not be the nicest guy on the forum, but again I don't care. There's nothing wrong with that.
It's true, I don't have the right to insult people on this forum, so yes that warning was correct.
If I insult again I have nothing to my defence for that, so being banned would be fair.
But it's not because I'm not nice to someone that I dislike him,
so Lewin your 'they can be very unpleasant if they take a disliking on you' isn't true.
When we're asking if somebody is retarted it's for what he just said, it's a way of expressing we just don't agree, not because we don't like him personally.
We don't know him. So please, everybody, stop taking everything personally. I think doing that is more a form of egocentrism.
If Private got kicked isn't because we dislike him personally, it's because we wanted to play with To instead. So he just got kicked, without giving a reason, it wasn't nice of us but that's our choice, we still had the right to do that. If he wants to make such a big deal of it, his choice, but believe me, by doing that I don't think I will soon want to play with him again. Do I think I'm more important than others? Well no, but yes I only care about myself, everybody does that, but I just do it in a more direct way.
I you feel sorry for someone, why do you help him? Because in the end it makes you feel better. Everything you do you do is for yourself in the end, if someone can prove me I'm wrong, good luck with trying that. ;)
It's not that I only want to play with a limited amount of players. If a new player joins, who is nice and mature, but just isn't a good player yet, I would love to help him to improve, with teamspeak or skype. Like Revo said, nothing is better than to see people improve, I agree with that.
But yes, I only help when I want to, and I only play with weaker players if I want to, when I'm the host, I choose who plays and who doesn't.
I don't have problems to find 8p wich who I want to play so I don't feel sorry for kicking players wich would make my game less enjoyable. If players don't agree they can always leave and make their own lobby. Makes sense no?

But why would you ask if someone is retarded; why wouldn't you just say you disagree or say that you think he's wrong. Why do you have to use such unnecessarily strong words? Does it make you feel better? Do you think it's cool to talk like that? There must be a reason. I can totally understand people would take it personally if you call them retarded. You blame them that they are too serious, you say they shouldn't take it so personal. But it's you who is at fault there, it is you who should try to be a bit friendlier. I don't see how that would harm you. Is it so hard?

I agree there's nothing wrong with saving a spot for a friend, and from the limited story I've seen Private.NL has overreacted (but maybe I don't know the full story). Perhaps the situation could be made less of a conflict by saying "sorry, this is a private game, we're waiting for a friend" or something like that before kicking? (I don't know the full story so maybe you already do this) Of course it's your choice and you can continue to kick people without explanation, it's more provocative but if you really don't care about anybody else (referring to Bo) then that's your choice. And of course sometimes you get people joining every 30 seconds (in public releases), and explaining to all of them takes way too much time. If you're in a private build like this and just waiting for one person and they're not ready yet then I don't think it does you any harm to say why you're kicking someone, but as I said it's the host's choice. If people don't like a host they can go make their own lobby.

Regarding calling people retards/other names because you disagree with them, I don't agree with that at all as a productive way of discussing something and it's not acceptable on the forum, but in other places you are free to act however you like. As you've seen the balance discussion became lost in insults and people complaining, it became completely unproductive. So I think it's clear that this isn't a way to get a good discussion that will be helpful to the development of this game. That's why the forum is moderated.

I'd have to say personally I'd rather have a community where people are nice to each other and not completely selfish, I think we'll end up with more players that way and have a stronger, more productive community. But the community is made up of it's members, only they can decide whether it's welcoming and helpful or not.

Eventually we'll have password protected lobbies so you can organise private games (and tell your friends the password over skype) without randoms joining you.

Yes it makes me feel better.
I mean what's that for a stupid question? To me it was the right use of saying I didn't agree.
In Dutch we call it, de trappen van vergelijking.
I won't say I don't realy agree with you if I realy think he's talking bullshit.
But if people realy want to take it personally I don't see a point of caring any more, it's their problem.
It's called logic, why would you take something personally of somebody you don't even know?

Maybe I get the translation of personally wrong, but I think in Dutch it's the same as persoonlijk...

Also, you know what's so funny about the internet? It's so hypcrite. Why is it such a big deal that here I'm not very nice to everyone, then think about yourself, and with yourself I mean for everybody, in real-life...
Do you realy care about everyone asking you for help? Are you always nice? Will you always use the most pollite term? You never make fun of somebody?
If you do, ok but I'm sorry I don't.

Sure, call it a stupid question. I can't look into your mind. I'm just curious why you're acting like you do, why you're being unfriendly while it isn't that hard to be nice to persons.
But if people realy want to take it personally I don't see a point of caring any more, it's their problem.
Like you cared before they took it personally...
It's called logic, why would you take something personally of somebody you don't even know?
It's YOUR logic, it's YOUR way of chatting, it's the way YOU think. You you you you you you you.
Do you realy care about everyone asking you for help? Are you always nice? Will you always use the most pollite term? You never make fun of somebody?
If you do, ok but I'm sorry I don't.
It depends on what they're asking. And obviously I can't say I'm always nice. However, I can say that I try to be nice to people in every situation. But yeah, sometimes I fail, that's why I'm a human being. You on the other hand don't even seem to try it.

Anyway, I think we will never agree so I'll stop at this point.
