The wall can't be build within 3 tiles from any builing, and in range of the tower. (I took 5 tiles here). It takes a long time to create a wall.

Even so. I pointed out that some people only like open up maps, and if we add walls like this we are closing those open up maps so some people will really hate it. Thats what i meant by this frase:
that would be a problem on open maps, where the point is to be hard for people to defend. If you do this, you will close all the player's entrances
(What i meant by closing is reducing in size, not totally blocking it) It would be hell to have to fight into entrances 3 men wide.

But by the way, as krisdw said, i also think you should keep up with the ideas!
Then we just shouldn't unlock the wall in open maps. Maybe make a checkbox: (x) allow walls.

Someone should really update the first post...

Anyway. Since ranged siege equipment is a little overpowered at the moment, i came up with the battering ram. Cost: 5 iron, 5 wood, 5 leather.

Only with 4 wheels, in KaM style and with the 'roof' in leather. You need a recruit, which will push it from inside and attacks the enemy. In the back, the battering ram is open and you can see the recruit sitting or pushing or battering. I try and create a photoshop kam version.

Nice AoE steal.

Since a battering ram was used for gates... I say: no way!
Siege equipment against walls would be a better idea.

IMO: Siege weapons:
Needs something to push/pull it.
Should have very long load time.
Should be set up prior to firing.
Should cost more wood, less iron.

Walls:
Should cost a huge load of stone, like 3-5per square. Also one wood for base.
One strike of builder should give 5hp but total hp should be doubled 100per stone but 0for wood.
Only damaged by siege weapons.
Can only be damaged by

Siege weapon's that throw stuff could use ammo. Like you have a catapult and it takes 1 stone for each shot and has storage space for like 30 stones. And it would be loaded by the feed command :D

They used that in stronghold and I like the idea!
But I'd prefer that they would have to return to the siege weaponry(or whatever it is called) to refill at the cost of 1iron and 2wood for ballista(40Shots) or 3stone for catapult(25shots) per unit.
This way you don't need sprites for the serfs that would carry the bolts(we already have stone).

HUM... im not so sure, but maybe that would make them less "overpowered"

Only battering when we have a gate, which would be awesome imo, but would require sprites.

I like the ammo idea. I like it very much. I think it would work. And my best friend wikipedia told me this, GWB:
A battering ram is a siege engine originating in ancient times and designed to break open the masonry walls of fortifications or splinter their wooden gates. It was used, too, in ancient Roman mines and quarries to attack hard rocks.

Lol, I seen that battering ram(3rd pic) IRL.
Now I think of it, that could be our picture!

Anyway, you are right.
But I still. You cannot easily role a battering ram towards the wall.
You would have to set it up next to the wall.
Since we don't have a moat, I suggest not using a melee siege unit.

A water channel to give extra defense in front of the wall used to prevent battering rams and ladders from reaching the castle/city walls.

I would agree to allow (and think that would be a good solution) the wall only if:
- there's a checkbox to allow/disable it at the lobby
- they should be quite expensive to build, like GWB said
- They should not be allowed to totally block entrances, only reduce their size (kridge gave the idea that they could not be build near buildings -- and they shouldn't be built near rock/mountains )

Battering ram idea:
- Battering ram has to be strong against arrows and weak against melee (arrows should hit the wood and have no effect at all -- unlike catapults and ballistae, the ram's recruit is well out of the reach of the arrows -- and for melee units it would be easy to just kill the recruit)
- The idea still needs to be developed more

I like it. But the original KaM sieqe troops must be implement, too. XD
Good work, with which program have you done this work? Photoshop only?

IMO, they should be able to totally block entrances. Can't get in, can't get out.
By their expensiveness, they can't be build everywhere.
