This isn't so much a game suggestion, but rather a forum suggestion.

I've taken the time the last few days to play some fan-created maps. A lot of them have been great fun to play, but here and there I could think of ways to improve the maps.
Perhaps if there is a seperate stickied topic in the Map Design forum called "Fan-Made Map Discussion", people can test new maps out, and post what they thought about it and perhaps how to improve it.

Just an example:
Last week I played a very entertaining map called "Smart". In the description it was called a rather difficult mission.
When the game started, I immediately used my light cavalry to scout the entire map out. I quickly noticed the enemy would gather his new military units to the area between your ally's bridge and your enemy's camp entrance. The units were very vulnerable there.

Without much effort, I could pick off any crossbowman the AI player sent out, preventing him to fully build up his force. I expected an attack from the enemy around the 1 hour mark, but what happened instead was that my ally attacked him.
Throughout the entire mission, the enemy could not launch an attack on my ally or myself.
But when I read the description, it seems like it's supposed to be rather difficult to keep your ally alive. That was not the case, I could win the map with ease. Probably for a large part because of his vulnerable army gathering area.
The idea of the map is awesome, I had never played a game against an enemy that makes fresh troops so fast, so it's a map with great potential, but if the enemy's new armies are a bit better protected it could be even better.

So basically what I'm suggesting is a seperate forum topic where we can discuss custom made maps, give the creators some feedback (constructive!!) and help them to make even better maps! :)

Well the guy who made Smart hasn't been around for ages. (it was posted something like 6 years ago before the Remake was even started) But the reason you found it easy was indeed because the Remake AI isn't finished. If you played it in KaM TPR you'd find it much harder. You should not be able to "pick off" crossbowmen like that. If you try to do that, the AI should come and crush you with his entire army rather than just standing there while you kill him. So the problem is the Remake AI, not the map.
I'm not opposed to the new topic though, you could create it yourself (and if it catches on, an admin can sticky it)

Hi,
Maybe addon options which is enabled when it is checked like:
- eating in ally tavern for their permission
- providing stone to alliance towers

AND
- options to change relations with other players
- recovery of left objects(enemy killed my helper when he was delivering wood - I wanna take this wood from the way :) )
- voice chat
- taking control over units and buildings which was left by player in-game-time. By his permission or not :)

BTW. I would be nice to play KaM Remake on Android/iOS so port to Android/iOS? :)

- Sharing inns/towers: Could be done eventually.
- Changing teams will be allowed eventually, but to stop it becoming exploitable the team members must "accept" a player when they joins their team. (otherwise you can changing to allied with your enemy so you can run away from combat unharmed) I do not want to allow one player to be allied while the other is not (so one player will fight, the other can run away) partly because it's exploitable, but also because it's complicated to understand/remember. Teams as we have now works much better.
- I don't think we will allow you to recover dropped resources like wood. If we did that the whole map would be covered with resources from where a serf was killed. If a serf dies, you lose the resource he's carrying. Stealing resources from a defeated players' storehouse might be allowed though.
- Voice chat would be very nice indeed, I hope we can add it eventually.
- Shared control and control of defeated players can be added eventually.
- iOS/Android: Well it would really only work on a touch tablet, because a mobile phone is way too small to see what is going on. You'd never see enough of the map at once. An iPad is 1024x768 which is perfect because that's our minimum resolution so everything is already designed like that. Some interfaces will need to be changed to work. Also I have concerns about the amount of RAM the KaM Remake uses. I don't think it would run on an iPad because we create so many textures for animations, etc. (maybe 500mb RAM to run) We could possible make a simpler version of the game will less textures. (e.g. serfs carrying resources just show resource icon floating above them, so there are less textures) But most importantly it will be hard to port our code, although not impossible. This MIGHT happen in the distant future.

IIRC Remake uses ~140mb of uncompressed textures (listed in log file). With some work we could probably squeeze that into 90mb.

I can already imagine playing KAM on a tablet! Having one of the most addictive games with me at all times... Wow!

Having said that, I find it too bad that there's no way you guys are ever going to be able to put a price tag on KAM Remake. I know it's not going to happen for some time, or not at all, but downloading quality apps for tablets or smartphones usually costs a bit and I wouldn't mind doing so for KAM. But it seems like the only persons we're ever going to pay are Joymania, which is fair, since they originally designed and created the game. But, I do think it would be nicer if you guys could release this game as your own, put it out there, in the iPhone and Android store and say: "this product is ours. Now let's see some revenue!"
I know it's not possible, but I do feel like you good folk deserve it!

Perhaps just a donate section on the website, so people can pay whatever amount whenever they want? To support the creators of KAM Remake :) Though I fear I'd be one of the only ones donating something :)

I have a few little (very unimportant) things:
- Can't you put some add banners in the multiplayer section?
- In Rise of Nations, you could play as one nation with two players (shared control of one faction). Wouldn't it be nice to have that in KaM?
- I don't know if it's already fixed, but in the original KaM game, if I had defeated an enemy and would like to expand like shit and build a huge empire using their paths, the slaves wouldn't use those. It's just a tiny little thing and completely unnecessary, but wouldn't it be nice?
- Capturing enemy buildings with citizens. For example: I play a map against four enemies and I destroy the army and store house of one of them. It might be a cool to be able to capture (for example) one of the farms with a farmer, or the butcher's with a butcher. That saves time, because otherwise, you would have to destroy the enemy farm, and completely rebuild it from the ground up. While in real life, you'd only have to replace flags.
Nice coffee is always nice.

Over the years many people have requested a donate button so I think it would be used. But as much as we would love to receive money for programming the Remake, that would be making a profit from [partially] someone else's work and it would risk the guys who own KaM asking us to stop. The idea, sprites, sounds, music, etc. etc. is all theirs, so we're already legally on thin ice by posting all of these assets for free, with only a simple check in the installer to make sure people own KaM too.
We never expected to get money for the KaM Remake and it's a fun hobby so we'd rather get no donations than take the risk of having the project shut down.

- What do you mean by the banners? I don't understand you.
- We're planning to add shared control, it shouldn't be hard to do and I agree it would be fun to do this with a friend while playing online.
- In KaM and the KaM Remake your serfs will share the enemy roads if you connect to them. However, in KaM they won't use the corn/wine fields of another player, but in the KaM Remake they will ;)
- Capturing villages and looting storehouses sounds like an interesting idea for the future.

I think that it is maybe an issue, which was a few times discussed on this world.
But now the Remake is here and I want to ask, what is about the idea to give the warrior "one more defense shield".
The warrior have,like the barbars 4 attack swords and one defense shield. About the attack, i think we mustn´t discus. It is enough (H)
But the defense should be individual. The barbars are half-nacked and they have the same defense like the big warrior (?)
I know that Joymania(or sth. other) haven´t maybe no time, and so they include the warrior as the same, like the barbarian and that´s maybe the reason, why in the Town hall you can only include warrior or barbarian Randomly. But do you think, that the time is now out and we need a few differences between the two people?

Yeah, i agree with GWB, at least for now.
there are a few more important things to be done - barbarians aren't even implemented to be trainable AND that would screw some of the missions that have warriors.

Only crossbowmen and cavalry need a bit more balancing.
Some say archers are also too good, but I don't think so.
