Hmm could you perhaps place numbers on the screenshot, showing the start positions of the players? I can't figure out the 5th start location. I do have an idea, but I'm not sure.

Like, english isn't my first language. It's not always that obvious for me ! :p
I didn't mean to be obtuse, I was just trying to offer a translation :)

The Dark Lord : I added a picture on the first post, I add it here too :

Auto decorate does not effect the gameplay in any way... The resources are cloned between starting positions so they are the same.
This isn't 100% true: consider the coal. The "Thicker" area of coal will be at a different distance from one player to another :P
I'm not sure how to explain it very well. Just compare the positions and their coal.

Anyway, in my opinion, I think that if a map doesn't look good, it isn't fun to play on it. I know that the map would be more "fair" but you can perfectly balance a map out AND make it look nice, but it takes more time. A lot more time.
Still, one should take pride in their work

Well I don't think my map is ugly neither

I updated the first post with informations about a map I'm currently working on, I'll quote it here :
-Horror in the swamp
State : finished. It still needs improvements but it's ready for a beta test.
It took a lot of time to improve the fist draw of the terrain, but I think it's much better now and worth the hours of work (thanks to Lewin for all the tips to improve it !)
This is a 6 players map for 3v3, with a lot of water and that will (I think) be quite hard, I'll need the beta test to be sure about that :p

i dislike your second map, for many things, including its essence. Though I strongly suggest to roughen those mountains of yours (they are too round and smooth)

Well I already said I won't change the mountains of The Valley of Dangers. It's done on purpose.

And I work hard to do better mountains on my future maps, you can see on the screenshots of my last map that I did many efforts for it.

i'm sorry if i didn't explain well and ended up being a bit rude. I had to post fast because i was in a rush...
What i really meant is that i dislike your map's essence, BUT im not the only one that plays kam. Some people like it. I was just suggesting to make those mountains look better, with holes and stuff on them.

And again, I already said that it'll stay like that for this map :p

What do you think about the map I'm currently doing for example ? It's for this one that I need some suggestions, just in case.

I've played some fun games on Valley of Dangers and whenever I'm in the lobby I see people playing on it. But I don't see why you wouldn't improve the elevation. It would make the map look better and it would still be as fair. It's not like someone has an advantage from better-looking mountains. :P
Horror in the Swamp looks good. I can imagine myself playing on it. :)

Well, you're right, but I do think it's part of the map.

Great :p
I'll try to do a beta test as soon as possible, I really wonder if it's playable :p

Ok, I just updated the first post : I changed the images with the img tags (and no slow imageshack anymore).

Some news :
- I'm working on "Mirror land", a map for two players wich both have the exact same area. This is a huge map and one player can't go into the other's area.
What's the point then ? This is a map dedicated to building, and only that, try to beat your opponent not with swords but with number of buildings, wares, or just watch your village becoming a great city !
No screenshot yet, it's in a too early stage.

And a screen of the (W.I.P.) The Valley Of Dangers 2 ! Don't worry, the surrounding moutains just aren't done yet, but you have quite an idea of how a player's area will look like.
Image
This second version will still be a perfectly equal map, but it'll look much more natural, polished. I hope nobody will say it's ugly anymore :p
I had to change some things though, the valley in the middle is just reduced to a narrow corridor, I had to do this because with the "natural" shape of the moutains, it reduced the players' areas so I extended it. I'm not sure how it'll end up, I hope the map will still have the same spirit ..
The market will not be buildable, just survive with what the nature gives you ! I also created some obstacles in the main entrance, so that if you build too many towers, you'll have quite a traffic jam if you try to extend outside !
I know my moutains aren't perfect, the screen is mainly to show the shape, it's still work in progress :p

Suggestions are welcome !
