Ah no! Nightmare!
Mine seems to be working fine. I don't have time to play much now but first impressions are: AWESOME!
I immediately noticed the better AI in level 1 of TSK. Also the team colours seem much stronger (not sure what I think about that yet).
I love playing with a high resolution and being able to zoom!

Nah I know why it says that. I installed TPR on my computer and just copy-pasted it to my laptop. I guess that's why it doesn't recognise TPR. This is quite annoying though.
Yes you must have TPR installed on your computer to install the KaM Remake, not folder copied. I know it's less convienient, but please understand why this is necessary. Read
my post above where I explain.

Well fortunately I still have the original cd somewhere, but otherwise I'd be doomed.

Well you could buy it online from
Good Old Games for a mere $6 so you'd hardly be doomed. I'd rather make it a bit inconvenient for some people than risk ZuXXeZ shutting down the project.

I just remembered a friend of mine borrowed my cd and it will be hard to get it back in the near future... :/
Yet I came up with a dastardly plan!
Is it possible to install KaM Remake on my old computer (where TPR is installed correctly) and then copy/paste the files from KaM Remake to my laptop?

Yes that will work. We allow you to copy the KaM Remake folder to another computer and play it because you are allowed to copy your TPR folder in the same way.

I come back from a long break and see so much progress! Great work everyone! Time to break this bad boy in. See everyone online!

I totally understand. I'm facing the same conundrum as of this moment. I'm using a Netbook, and they lack CD drives so I obviously don't have KaM
installed.
However, I am going to use your method. Should work fine.

you can also rip your dvd and use the .iso with a virtual drive program

Somehow, that method actually never worked with me (with KaM)..

Maybe you can just download the .iso somewhere. I mean, if you bought the game you are allowed to download it since you paid for it.

At some point we are going to need an alternative graphics set like OpenTTD so people don't need the original game anymore.

I just exported all the sprites from the game and did a file count:
10,902.
And that's not counting the terrain siege equipment as they are not loaded yet, so it's probably about 11,500. I agree that it would be nice to be able to "own" the images but it would be a mammoth task and I think we would still be on shaky legal ground if our gameplay and layout was exactly the same just with different images/sounds/fonts.
Anyway, this isn't really the intention of this project. We are TRYING to clone KaM because we like the current images and sprites and music. I can't imagine KaM without it. OpenTDD, I doubt they have 10,902 images and I don't think changing them would have such an impact on the game.
I think that anyone who is too tight to pay a mere $6 to GOG.com for instant download of KaM TPR with unlimited installs doesn't deserve to play our game. That's like the cost of two coffees at a cafe. (at least it is here, but our economy is doing well

) Anyway, publishers/authors of the game deserve money for it because we are still enjoying their idea and their copyright sprites/music/sounds.
We've made it very easy for people, there's a big link to the GOG.com page for KaM on our downloads page. I mean, if we were selling this remake for $6 you'd buy it, (but of course we have no right to do this) so why not buy KaM TPR instead?
