Well, in French typology, and surely other languages, we put a space before a : or a !
But not before a, how odd ! We just have the perfect balance (ehm).
In my humble opinion the following looks bad (or maybe I just learnt not to do that at school) :
Hey:
go!
That's very interesting, in English you never put a space before punctuation like that. The space looks really odd to me

It looks odd when someone has a different way to deal with punctuation indeed :p
I wonder if there are languages in which you actually put a space before a "," ?
