I like the marketplace and I use it only in MP.
To SP I feel like it just is not purposed to be there.
However the marketplace is good in locs where are not trunks but are minerals.
It's cool and in a long games, it's great because you can trade for example bread for gold ore and that's really important and useful.
So YES I like it.

i do like marketplace, as said before you can make up for mistakes and it allows the match to continue if all finite resources are depleted. then the one who improvises with the amrket the best has an advantage.
the fact that people trade iron/coal for tree trunks does not bother me, i do it for a long time, the downside is that you burn through your finite resrouces more quickly and everyone can use the market on how he/she sees fitting. so yeah i like the market.

Wow, 51 votes already. That shows how many people read everything but don't say a word... Maybe I underestimated the size of our community here.

I am one of the voters who did not react.
On topic:
I do (ab)use marketplace, because the function is there, and imo you can't keep up with other players if you don't (ab)use it as well.
But I don't like the use as it is now. I think trading with other players is way nicer, which also solves the tree trunk thing, because other players won't trade (at least not that much) trunks.

Currently, I think the best solution to the tree-trunk problem is for people to place more trees on the maps, and for goodness sake, why place trees that are not already grown? You're supposed to be able to cut those things down early on!

Oh, i forgot to log in: those post is belong to me:
Quote: "hello! I'm glad to hear all opinions, but to my mind - the market must have (if the stone mine or gold mine had been terminated) and at the multiplayer game should have the option before game starting: switch on or switch off access to the market building."

Definitely yes. I build marketplace in every on-line game. This is just a part from my tactic, where I change my coal to armors and food. Without this game would be much harder.
Anyway, I think that there should be added option to disable Marketplaces (and towers too!).

Knights and Merchants never was an easy game. Not until, on a sad, sad day, when the wind was howling and rain gushed through the streets... An evil mind came up with a terrible idea... And Knights and Merchants would never be the same again... *Sniff*

Spoken like a poet

I still like the market; though, lol.
However, at the moment, I really wouldn't be upset if the marketplace's current use was dropped. I LOVE it for singleplayer (so I can make giant cities without running out of resources) but for multiplayer? Well gold usually doesn't run out in multiplayer, so I really don't think it is necessary.

Ben people often run out of gold, so its still useful for that purpose.

Well I don't recall writing any, so that might explain why.

Since I started playing again, no one has come
close to running out of gold! I'm getting so irritated (but not at anyone in particular) about how I'm not getting a good KaM experience!

I love my marktplace, when I have close iron the first thing I build after the sawmill is an iron mine and market.

Once I have a coal mine I make an iron smelter and start trading iron bars for tree trunks during 15 min,
knowing that 1 iron smithy can provide 2+ sawmills.

Later on I can trade some iron bars for bread, if my corn is late and I run out of food, knowing that 1 iron bar gives us 2 corn wich can become 4 bread.

Then if I have enough range I can trade them for some horses and make myself some knights and scouts.
People saying that I'll run out of iron sooner, well true but in late game it's all about leather anyway. (;
So yes to those who said: Market is only as good as the players using it.

I don't really agree, marketplace makes the game easier for people who run out of timber, so it makes them better.
