And to enter a Game as a spectator to see what's going on?:D And maybe to look inside buildings as it is in replays, but off-chat.

Good idea Bence, because there are no such things as skype to communicate, so it makes a big difference to disable chat. :)

But yes, spectator could be good but only if they join at the beginning of the game.

Maybe it would need permission from the host to join as a spectator? Or a little vote about joining? Everyone could get a question, something like this:

Do you allow <Player Name> to join the game as a spectator? Yes/No

And which answer gets the more votes, that would be the response from the server towards the person who wants to be a spectator. (But it would be very complicated to implement imo.) And to prevent quiting and then re-joining, a spectator isn't allowed to leave till someone gets defeated.

Spectator mode will work something like this:
A lobby can have spectators in it that everyone can see. When you join a lobby you can select to become a spectator. The host can kick any spectators from the lobby. If a spectator wants to join half way through a game at least at first the only way to do that will by the host clicking "return to lobby" where more spectators can join, players who left/disconnected can be replaced, etc.
I don't think chat would be disabled for spectators, but anything they say could be seen by everyone. As people said you can always use Skype if you want to cheat, so anyone you allow to spectate should be trusted.
I wonder if it's possible to show beacons thrown in the minimap and the chat historial in-game.
Many conversations have been always funny...
Aclaration: These beacons signals and All/Team conversations are from the Player's point of view (whose replay came from).

I definitely don't think conversations should be recorded in replays. Chats are somewhat private IMO, players should be able to post their replay here without assuming everybody can see them chatting. We considered showing beacons in the replay (it's not hard) but we thought they would be out of context without the chat at the time, so we decided not to. We want replays to be quite clean looking, if you run them at 10x the beacon spam would be really annoying.

My shadows don't look like here. They look like word AFTER and BEFORE. The are extremely black.

We made the shadows quite dark intentionally. KaM is quite high contrast/saturation in general, I think they look good although maybe it looks too dark on certain screens. Currently they're about 59% black (150/255). It's not hard to change if other people also think they're too dark.

What do others think? Are the shadows too dark?

I think a have something like bug. I instaled new version 3870 and next instaled 3392 on the same place.

Ah sorry I misunderstood you :)
Install r3870 in a different folder (or delete the old one first if you don't have anything you need in it like saves/maps) and that will ensure there's no old data files. The next version of the release candidate will check for old files and remove them.

You can't keep both versions in the same folder, the data files change each release and are not compatible. If you want to keep both versions install them to different locations.

Ohh, nice shadow :D Which graphic-card did you have?


I have one other idea to the townhall-question.
In the townhall you rent soldiers, dont you? So in reallity, if you have paid for them, they will go after a special time. Because you can rent them only for a certain time.

So whats about the idea, that the barbarians and CO. which are so "cheap" in comparative to barracks-army, will go back to the townhall after maybe 10 min. Like the feed bar, but you cant feed them.
