Gamespy Shutting Down

Some of you might be interested to know that gamespy is shutting down all its servers on the 31st 0f May 2014. This will have affect on many games.
No. I'm not getting the remake. Bother someone else.

It's actually pretty simple - money.

Thought about that already. It´s the only big problem for such services I guess :D
However I thoguht they have just a good financial positions. Like 5-10 years ago I saw here at least many ads on new pc games showing "powered by Gamespy" and co :|

Well 5-10 years is huge by any standards. The market can change a lot in just one year.

I suppose that it is worth guessing that Steam could be behind this, as many users are switching to this software; even in America.
I used to spam this forum so much...

not only steam, every developer is starting it's own platform (ea has origin, ubisoft has uplay, etc etc).
