Re: The release candidate is here at last!

Awesome work Litude :)
Thanks for all your commitment to this patch over the years, it's great to see it coming together. I'm especially pleased to see the improvements to the English text in the TPR campaign that we've been working on for so long.

I'm in the process of updating the data files used by the Remake to this RC (it's complicated since we've adopted our own text format etc.) and there are some errors in the script that are not yet fixed in this release candidate:
- dmission3.dat: Line 1570: "!SET_AI_DEFENSE 99 13 6 240 0" (replace "240" with "2 40")
- mission19.dat: Line 61: "!SET_AI_ATTACK POSITION 90 75" (the map is 64x80, so the coordinates are off-map. In my test it appears that TPR ignores this attack as it is)

Both of these were causing the Remake to crash so they came to our attention. I've fixed them for the Remake (based on SR3 RC files) but I thought you might like to fix them in SR3 too.

On another note, was there any major changes to texts for languages other than English? I mean stuff like campaign briefings/messages improved. If you can give me any more detail about what's changed since Beta 7 it will make my life easier to update the translations of other languages. If you could send me all of the .lib files for all languages that would also help. (and save me downloading/installing every language version of the patch)

I hope everything is going well for you in Finland! :)
Cheers,
Lewin.

Re: The release candidate is here at last!

Sorry for double posting, but I wanted to comment on the quality of the English TPR briefings (the ones I recorded). The audio sounds quite crackly to me. Maybe you encoded it into a lower quality by mistake or something? I checked the original files and they sound much better than that.

Thanks for those, will be fixed in the final release.

There weren't any major changes in any of the other languages but some minor fixes were made to each language IIRC. You can get the lib files from here (except for the Hungarian one since it isn't ready yet).

I was supposed to re-encode the files to use the same quality as the original TSK WAV briefings but it seems I made the quality lower than that by mistake. Also I had to increase the volume level of the files since they were quieter than the TSK briefings which probably also caused some quality loss. I'll try to re-encode them from the source files to the higher quality so it should sound better for the final.
EDIT: Here're the briefings with the correct quality. Also didn't boost the volume level as much in some of the briefings to hopefully maintain a higher quality level.
I hope everything is going well for you in Finland! :)
Thanks! Just a bit under half a year remaining to serve in the army so things are definitely starting to look up! ;)

Re: The release candidate is here at last!

I ran a check on all of the campaign missions with the Remake and found a few warnings that might be a good idea to fix: (although it looks like TPR just ignores them)
TSK 7: Line 428: The watch tower here is duplicated, you can find exactly the same !SET_HOUSE command just above on line 425
TSK 11: Line 15: !SEND_GROUP without prior declaration of !SET_GROUP
TSK 11: Line 15: !ATTACK_POSITION without prior declaration of !SET_GROUP
TSK 14: Line 18: !SEND_GROUP without prior declaration of !SET_GROUP
TSK 14: Line 20: !ATTACK_POSITION without prior declaration of !SET_GROUP

Re: The release candidate is here at last!

Added Hungarian build (also updated the LIB archive to include the Hungarian libs).
Still four lines part of the readme that need to be translated though:
- The rebel, rogue, vagabond and warrior now have unique sound effects
- Revised statistics screen, now includes all buildings and occupants
- Building a siege workshop now unlocks the carpenter in the statistics menu
Currently most official localizations of the game are supported by the patch

Thanks for those as well, fixed all of them.

Re: The release candidate is here at last!

Someone just reported on the Remake bugs list that there is an unused farm in TSK 9:
Image
It has no fields nearby. I'll let you decide whether you want to change that.

Yeah I checked and that bug appears to still exist in the release candidate, the defence position faces backwards.

Keep in mind that the Remake r3392 uses an older version of SR3 so some of the bugs might have been fixed already. The next release will use the SR3 RC with a few balance changes to make it playable under the Remake's different AI.

@Luki: Thank you for the bug report, this will be fixed in the final version of the patch.
@PegazuS: Fish will still run out, but there are more fish in the sea now so it should take longer.

Re: The release candidate is here at last!

I received an e-mail that says the following:
In the Russian version of a patch 1.60 there is no map for 17 mission in TSK campaign. When game begins, at once there comes a victory

Re: The release candidate is here at last!

Posted a slight update of the previous release candidate, RC2. The new thing mainly being here that the installers and files are compatible with the 2012 edition of the game.

Also, I've included most of the 2012 edition music in the new release.
