Are the values in units.dat percentages? If so then I believe you should make them the same. Having 200% attack is probably ok, because a ballista does a huge amount of damage. (it still will be way better than now. After all, people will use the manual to see how good the troops really are, so it would be way better if they are accurate.
The icons should just be approximate.
Yeah but the ones for the siege weapons are real weird. They were some 175 for both and then they had an additional 50 for the catapult and 75 for the ballista versus cavalry if I recall correctly.
I'm considering to use:
Bowman: 25%
Crossbowman: 35%
Rogue: 25%
Catapult: 3x75%
Ballista: 100%
I really don't think it is. All of the other Old English used I have heard in other places, but I've never heard of "tat" being used like that.
I highly doubt that it is Old English.
Okay.
Well why should part of the sentence be red and part of it be black? Surely it would be better if it was all the same colour? (the sentence is "attack against cavalry")
I think it done so that the layout would support having multiple unit types beneath the "Attack against". So it could be e.g.
Attack against
Cavalry:
Archers:
Ok, how about this then: "My farmer needs too much time to work on his fields, how can I fix this?"
-----
"My farmer needs more time to work on his fields, how can I fix this?"

"Needs too much time" is quite Engrish.
I'll look at the German original and go from that.

Sounds good to me.
I wouldn't show the extra against cavalry for the siege equipment.

Probably right. The only thing is, there only is extra attack against cavalry. Ok, just leave it as is.
I'll look at the German original and go from that.
Ok.

Hmm... I just noticed that the English manual has an uneven number of pages. This would make printing the manual impossible.
Should I just add an empty page with the border before the two last pages, or does anyone have a better suggestion (it shouldn't be any content as both the Dutch and the German one have a page promoting the publisher at the end)?

Why not promote the English publisher?

If you can't do that then I would just make it a blank page with a nice border and some artwork.

Perhaps, though it might be a bit difficult to figure out something to write about TopWare there.

Got a lot of minor changes done to the manual, please comment on anything you find as I think it's pretty much finalized. Get it here.

Good work!
A few little things I noticed:

Second sentence in "General Game Description":
Generally, a clicking on a building or person with the mouse displays information about that building or person in the lower part of the game panel.
That 'a' is not needed and makes the sentence sound weird.

Second paragraph, near the end:
Click the book symbol (the second in the upper row) and move your cursor...
Should be "the first in the upper row" if I'm not mistaken. (It is talking about the school house)

I didn't read it all, but I skimmed over most of it.

Edit: Are these manuals up-to-date? http://www.knightsandmerchants.net/extr ... ellaneous/
Edit2: Why e.g. TPR English manual is in rar-archive? Packing reduced the size like 100 kB which isn't so much. It's also much more user friendly to offer manuals in pdf-format because everyone don't know how to extract rar-archives. Just write there a hint like "Right click to Save target as..." and it's fine.

An up-to-date manual is available when you install the beta 7 release of the 1.60 patch. The ones on the website are not updated, they are the originals.

Yeah it would probably make more sense to offer the files as direct PDFs when available. I'll have to think about it.

Well, I don't wont to update my game yet because I still want to play the "offical" version through first (maybe there's no sense but dat's me :P ). Actually I don't own legal TPR yet, still looking for a legal copy...
The ones on the website are not updated, they are the originals.
But could you fix that link or upload every updated manual to the website? I wouldn't want to do it so complicated way (by installing the patch and then copying/backuping the manual to my external hard drive) to get that manual. Or is there some reason you can't share the manual without the patch?

Edit: Thanks Litude :P
