This weekend we (my friends and I) are going to record the voices again. In preparation I am working out what needs to be done:

The siege is finished, no changes needed
The rouge is finished, no changes needed
The warrior will be redone by the same person as in the sample provided here
The rebel will be done by another person
The vagabond will PROBABLY be redone by a different person

I say probably for the vagabond, because I had a thought that might allow us to use the recordings my brother did. I have a program that will change the pitch of sound without effecting the speed. I did a conversion (down 3 semitones) on the files. Some quality is lost, but it's not too bad. I think the pitch is ok.
I think the quality is probably too low, (defiantly not as good as the others) but I thought I'd post them here anyway, just so people can see: (with beta 7 of SR3 install just delete the old VAGABOND folder and put this one in it's place)

Let me know what you think, I reckon we'll probably redo it anyway. (once we're all set up recording shouldn't take too long)

Warrior Voice Done!

The recording on the weekend went well! I got the warrior and rebel voices done. (the person who was going to be the vagabond didn't turn up, so we'll have to do him another day) I haven't finished cutting and sorting the rebel recordings, but the warrior is done. Download it from here:
http://lewin.namsys.com.au/kam/Temp/WARRIOR1.rar (2.5 MB)

Extract the file into data\sfx\speech and say yes to overriding the old files. (this requires SR3!!!)

The quality of the sound is great, but some of the actions might need to be redone.
Please let me know what you think of the voice and stuff. We can redo them if necessary.
Lewin.

Okay I checked the sound files. Now I really don't like being the only one giving an opinion on these so I would appreciate if someone else also gave their say, but anyways onto the point.

For the vagabond, those digitally manipulated sounds don't really fit the picture. As for the warrior, I see your trying to imitate the barbarian and are doing so quite well. Just thought I'd point out a few sound files for the record:
ATTACK2 - Instead of sounding like a barbarian, I think the sound is a bit off.
EAT2 - I'm not sure if fooo is appropriate for this, though it would give more uniqueness to the character. Anyone else up for giving an opinion?

Any opinion is helpful to me. Please feel free to give me negitive feedback on these, I don't mind.
But yeah, it would be nice to get some feedback from other people. (especially native English speakers)

Yeah, I totally agree. We'll do them again next time.

It was meant to be "Food!", he kind of did it as a joke but I couldn't find enough good sounds for that action so I included it. I'll replace those two when we do them again. Please let me know any other ones you would like changed or added. (are there enough of each sound? Is the quality ok on all of them?) It isn't much bother for us to do a few extra recordings, and I want to get these right.

I guess you want to know what happened to the rebel voices. Well, I tried cutting them out but unfortunatly only about half of the recordings were usable. He spoke too softly (meaning I had to make it louder which reduced the quality) and the was some microphone noise too. So I don't have enough sounds to do a full release unfortunatly. (I might release a small sample so people can tell me if the voice is right)
I should be able to do another recording session next holidays. (in 5-6 weeks)

Thanks very much for giving me some feedback!
Lewin.

I'm glad your redoing the vagabonds voice. It was certainly way too high (no offense Mitchell).
Rebel - 0% Planned. Theme: Slightly stupid, angry farmer with a bit of a lisp.
Wow, sounds great!

By the way, how are you making these? Are you using some sort of microphone? I want to do something like this for a different game, but I need to know what kind of tools and programs I need. Thanks.
