This kinda looks like... KNIGHTS AND MERCHANTS 2 DEMO!

Thats right! I randomly checked KaM DE forums today, and guess what?

A demo that looks like a KaM 2! :D
Firstly, I don't know were the guy who got it got it from. (The guy is Clausomat in the german forum)
Secondly, in-game, this is called princedom, but even more important, the gameplay is JUST like KaM. (Just newer)
the game is english/german.

heres a copy from the german forum: (translated with google)

After KaM TPR Joymania worked in 2001 on a new 2D engine for KaM2, it had new features such as depthbuffering. This could for example, figures walk around freely in any stores. The game was then renamed internally due to lack of license in accordance Similis Princedom.

Last thing, the demo is NOT fully playable, but, if you want to check it out, i can only recommend to download it NOW :D

Sebrav
EDIT: this should work on every windows operating system.

YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME, IS THIS A REAL DEVELOPMENT BUILD OF KNIGHTS AND MERCHANTS 2?!

EDIT:
Wow, this pre-alpha is surely interesting. Has some quite nice graphics and sounds already but sadly there isn't much to comment on the gameplay. IMO it is a bit too much Settlers alike at this point though.

Yep, looks like Settlers 3 or 4. There's no colorful KaM graphics :(

Is there anything from this that we could/should put in the remakes?

Ambient sounds for example. Maybe menus?

Also note how well underwater and water animation is made (esp. sank ship). I wish I knew how make it like so in KaM Remake.

I can't figure out how to actually "play" btw, I can just move around the map
The water is pretty cool, looks way too hard to implement though..

Me neither.. looks like just a tech demo focused on terrain artwork - which looks pretty amazing for 2D

Can anyone upload this again? The rapidshare link doesn't work for me.

[link removed]

Edit: hey what's this! My link gets removed? Why? The other link is still there. Also this was a link to a tech demo, not a commercial game, so it wasn't piracy and didn't break the board rules.

@Harold: If you want to host a torrent of something, use something like OpenBitTorrent so as to not to link to sites that link to copyrighted material.

Ooh right, well ok.. I'll upload it somewhere else
.. so where DO I upload it to?

Ok here's a different trick, google for "KAM2 tech demo" (with or without quotes) then click any of the links.

Alright, the FTP connection to my web space finally started working again so I took the opportunity to upload the Princedom pre-alpha to my website. You can get it from here.

I'll dl it too.. want to see how it looked..

But um.. what's the difference between a torrent site and rapidshare then? rapidshare also links a lot of illegal material like torrent sites, even host the files themselves whereas torrents don't.
