I wonder how many recent files do you need when translating LIBs, 2?
Exactly what I was thinking. Because there are so few LIB files and they should all be in the same place recent files seem unnecessary.
And I'd rather not put things in the registry if I can avoid it.
I happened to test the LIB Editor with the Russian SR3 and after changing the encoding everything displayed completely fine?
Really? I did not know that... :D Maybe my computer doesn't have the fonts installed? For me it still showed weird characters. Although I'm not sure which Russian LIBs I was using, I don't think they were the SR3 ones.

Anyway, that's great news! :) So the only think I haven't managed is Unicode. I'm hoping that we'll get the official LIB editor with the source code, but I'm still waiting to hear back about that.

Hi Lewin,

Like one or two months ago I finished the Polish version of my campaign, but the text was a real pain to do. When I copy-paste it in the LIB decoder, all Polish signs are gone (like the z with the dot above it, etc.). I had to replace them all, which isn't hard, but boring and time-consuming. I hope you can fix this. :)

Hello Lewin.
Make please LIBDecoder for the Russian version of game. Because at opening of Russian file instead of the text hieroglyphs turn out.

Hi Ioann,
The LIBDecoder currently supports Russian. (non-unicode versions only)
But you must set the character set because it is not the standard character encoding. In the LIBDecoder (use latest version 0.8.2) click File -> Character Set. Select Russian. (it is the 8th down from the top)
The text should display correctly. Other character sets might also be needed for languages like Polish.

I hope this works, let me know if you have any other questions.
Lewin.

EDIT: @The Dark Lord: The reason for that is because KaM does not use standard character sets, so when you type the Polish characters in e.g. Notepad then they will be encoded differently to what KaM and the LIB Decoder uses. I could possibly add a conversion process but for the number of people using it that doesn't seem worth it.

I chose Russian, but all the same there are one hieroglyphs. In usual war and peace the text deduces normally, and in war and peace 2 it is impossible.

Hmmm... is this the KaM text file that doesn't display correctly? Could you please send it to me? (lewinjh@gmail.com) It might be Unicode, which is not supported by my editor at the moment. If so you should patch your game with the Russian SR3 which will convert it to non-unicode Russian version which will open.

Also note that copying text from other applications and pasting into the LIB Decoder probably won't work with anything other than standard English characters.

I just check the files you sent me. They are Unicode, which is not supported by my LIB Decoder yet.

You should convert your game to non-Unicode by applying the latest SR3 patch. Unfortunately the Russian release of the latest beta (7) is not ready yet, but it should be done soon. You can find information about it under the forum section Patch 1.60. When it is released install it and your game will non-Unicode plus having many bugs fixed!

@Litude: Will that work? Patching Unicode with non-Unicode?

Sorry I can't provide a better solution, I don't understand how the Unicode LIB encoding works and besides most versions are non-Unicode so it doesn't seem worth the effort.

Yeah patching Unicode with non-Unicode is possible, in fact it's the only possible way as there's no non-Unicode retail version of the Russian TPR.

As for the release date of Russian beta 7, well there's still some font work and manual + readme translations to be done.
