Experimenting with snow house sprites in-game (I took KillingB's wineyard in snow and clipped it from screenshot). I've used some random noise texture to make the snow slowly buildup once the house is built (very similar to how houses appear when building). I hope with proper artistic approach it could look much better.

This is how snow houses look with this feature:
snow_buildup.png
house on left was built few moments ago, house on right was build several minutes ago. Current slow buildup pace from 0 to full is 100sec, but it can be tweaked ) House detects itself when it is positioned on snow (at least half of it).

That's a pretty cool way of implementing those buildings. It also really solves the problem that buildings would immediately have snow on them when finishing, but not when building. Pretty neat.

...House detects itself when it is positioned on snow.
I was thinking about this a few weeks ago. Consider this: What if there was a "point" system for houses to detect if they should have snow?
For example: Say that for each dirt&snow-mix tile that the house was on, it got one point, and for each snow tile it was on, it got five points. If the points are equal to 5, than the house would be considered a "snow house."

A house is considered "on snow" if more than 50% of the tiles underneath it are snow.

A simple, yet straight-forward solution. Works fine by me.

Good to see you with new artwork :)

Is it only me, or the snow on fishermans hut is lit too random and plain?

Hehe, the fisherman needs some tools for icefishing now :D

I'm sure that you'll be able to get the roof perfect. These snowy buildings are certainly your forte! :)
