I don't like these maps. Much of them need big improvements, before they will be good enough to be included to the game.

I can't help but feel that South Island has deliberately been shaped like a fish...

Re: Piko's Maps [last update: 24th July]

New versions of all my maps are done. Now changes aren't very big, but are. I propably won't improve them more.

I wanted to publish them when my new map will be finished, but there are very much work on it needed, so I published this maps now. I'll do pause mamapking for some time, my maps aren't really useful (almost nobody play it). I'll make more graphics to KaM, this would be much more useful.

My new map would be named Ancient Lands, bigger preview of this map is in 1st post.

Re: Piko's Maps [last update: 24th July]

I voted for South Island. The idea is for leather war with little iron presence (few Xbows, losing them hurts).
I think it needs more fishes, since there is a large mass of water and 8 players willing for 1 or 2 fishers each one. :)

Re: Piko's Maps [last update: 4th June]

Pretty much of time passed... Didn't it? 24th July. Well, it's almost a year. 315 days.

Well, after my last, unfinished map got lost (now I'm always making 20 copies of them, and upload these on 10 different servers), I stopped mapmaking for a looong time. Playing as well, btw. But... what can I do? KaM is just damn too good to just forgot about it. ;P

I know my maps never were liked very much, and no one cares that I'm making them again. But anyway, I do it. :)

Some screenshots from the new map:

It'll be 224x224 6p. It gonna have two versions: the hardcore one with much of iron, coal and everything, and a normal one with a moderate amounts of resources. It's finished in about 15%. I still am looking for a name of it.

Re: Piko's Maps [last update: 4th June]

Seeing the second screenshot, I'd like to suggest you to flatten the bottom of the cliff, where it blends with the water. As we can see on the screenshot you elevated those tiles and it looks a bit odd that the water is climbing the cliff.
Otherwise, the terrain is too flat and your water area on the first screenshot is too square.
Your moutains have strange holes, you should do lines or more large scale elevation (compared to one little point being under elevated).

Re: Piko's Maps [last update: 4th June]

Hey Piko!

How i see these pictures absolutly okay for me.
1st: prety cool, and large forest, really nice, not too frequently, but good if we would lke to see the solders.
2nd:This was my favourite from the three pictures. this is one of the best stone muntain what i ever seen! Nice part!
3rd: this is the hardest issue ever in the Map editor...Smooth the iron and gold mountain connection. I think that iron mountain is enough good without gold mountain. use dark tiles or a little path between the two kind of mountain.

I see you made a really detailed job. Respect for these parts. Nice!
t

PS: i ve seen weaker elevated maps also, and thats maybe top20map.;)

Re: Piko's Maps [last update: 4th June]

Welcome back :) The 2nd screenshot is great, it looks like real cliffs. The 3D effect there from the elevation is great, it looks very real to me.
