Yup, I would like to help as well. Good job about reminding this map, it would be a pity if it becomes forgotten. I hope the work is still in progress :).

I don't know what game mode it will be (building, fighting, RPG), but i can say that this map is very beautiful and soulful =)

Hi guys, this project is still in my mind. I should learn scripting first (I even need to learn the basics) and I don't have time to focus on it right now.
Ideally, this would be a RPG style mission with various missions. It'll take some time.

Maybe I can make it a building mission first, so you could have at least a preview of the final work. It should take less time though it'd be less interesting too.

Hi folks,

I modified the map a bit, but it needs scripts still. If I wait till I get some programming skills, the map will never be released, so I'm wondering if someone would be interested in making it. You can send a PM if you are interested. I don't need a heavy script, as it's not meant to be a very elaborated mission.

I need to create a few dynamics, such as :
- force units (army and/or workers) to move under certain conditions (hunger, attack, patrol...)
- make units appear at some coordinates under certain conditions
- teleport units
- etc

I'll make a more realistic mission when this one is finished, which may need more sophisticated scripts.

Thanks vovets1, it's good to see that this map is still followed my some people. I still wish to release this map but I don't have any programming skills, so the project is pending till someone show up and can help! :)

Hi folks,

as I could not use scripts for this map, I modified it so it doesn't need any. Here are the details. How do you think?

The map is finished and will be released as soon as I made some tests. It shouldn't take too long!

THE MAP :

DESCRIPTION :
You start in the abandoned fortress. You have to explore the world and defeat all the villages and defend your territory against waves of attacks.
You have 11 independant enemies.

GOLD, COAL, IRON, STONES :
If you think there is not enough coal around your village I will add more.

THE START POSITION
It's an old fortress in which remains a small storehouse with only few items.

THE CAPITAL CITY
A big city in the centre of the map. It's well protected but you will find some flaws in the protection.

A village hidden behind trees.

A big fortress in the middle of a green mountain.

THE DESERT AND THE FACTORIES
A hot desert. Their people found coal under the sand and built a factory. The first factory extracted all the coal available and is abandoned since then. Another one was built later.

A mysterious swamp that you will access after their people opened a path through the stones.

THE PORT
The port of the capital city. Villagers regularly travel from there to the city centre. You can get an advantage from it.

This map in RPG's style would have reminded me to one map already in the list of single player maps.

Try to play this: The Adventurer's Journey, by Shadaoe
Then load it with Map Editor to understand how and why a RPG map style must be divided in sections.

Since everything, every event should occur inside the map's limits (you cannot load a 2nd map while playing), if you want this to be a RPG adventure, you need to create detailed apart scenarios that represent the battles in each location/terrain.

Otherwise this map it's just a good looking scenario, like an artistic painting... but with no gameplay at all.

I don't know much about scripting... but if you have a minor idea and decent intuition, with looking at Shadaoe's script you might learn fast using trial and error method (change segments of the lines so you know what happens). The basic syntax is there (Shadaoe's script), and it's your job to adjust the semantics to your map.

Scripts for a RPG map are used for: Special victory/defeat conditions, Appearance/Dissappearance of units (teleportation effect), Resources addition/subtraction for success or failure with events (bonus/malus for player's barracks or storehouse), Text dialogues or narrator's messages (one of every RPG's pilars).

In an aside commentary, I see you have potential as mapmaker. A type of map that is missing in Multiplayer map pool, is the design for a "odd number balanced gameplay". I'm talking of games such as: 1 vs 2, 2 vs 3, 3 vs 4.

It won't work of course if all locations look similar: The Lower Team would need a geographic advantage (without looking over-campy), and a higher number of serfs + labourers + initial resources at storehouse.

I'm suggesting this because if you aren't going into a full scripted adventure (you surely have to REMAKE the map for having specific battle areas), an artistically beautiful multiplayer map for "odd players" would survive longer in the mind of the community.

When i see 'village covered with snow' it reminds me old snow mode in Remake. It could be great to see it again in the official Remake, just like old good times. Why it's not added to btw? It looked awesome.

Really great job by yourself, making this map. Wow! i mean....WOW! I hope its difficult, can't wait to test it :)

IIRC Snow mode for KaM Remake was put on ice because several houses and lot's of animations were not complete / fixed.
I'd like to see it in game too ..
