Re: Eruption-6p

It looks good :D
Very open, a bit less trees around the loc's, but that is not a bad thing.
if I see maps like this, I always think I should start playing MP again

Re: Eruption-6p

Map is really nice, for example I really like the waterfalls at 108:172. Only thing I don't like is mountain elevation, because it's still one and the same thing (look for example at TSK14 at 116:78 - that's more natural IMO). I'm new in map-making, so my opinion isn't that respectable, just want you to think about it ;).
I fixed The Shattered Kingdom and The Peasants Rebellion here!

Re: Eruption-6p

its just my style of doing the mountains :)
and there is variation in the elevation(but it's just harder to see than the mountain in tsk 14)

Re: Eruption-6p

Okay, forgive me but I am taking this map seriously so forgive me if I seem too blunt, but I'm going to say what I think needs to be said ;)

Firstly, let me say that this map is very pretty! The style is quite similar to Koczis/Dark Lord, which is a very natural and relaxing style. My favorite part is the 200 gold of location 4. The way it blends in with the yellow mountain is gorgeous. That green hill to the left is stunning, but that leads us to the bad: that bridge. So flat; very boring. Also, I do not like your volcanos. I was talking to someone who said he did like them though, so I guess that's just me :P

As for playability: Nice potential. The locations are situated with enough distance to make teamwork important! I don't know what the best setup would be, but strangely I think it is top vs bottom! Normally left vs right is the best setup (because it creates the most distance from allies).

Building is strange on some locations. Location 6 looks relatively too easy. Iron in center of base: Close stone, fish, gold, coal, iron, trees....nothing is hard there. It's also simple to defend (though if enemy against 5 it could be a little tricky). Location 3, on the other hand, has gold quite far and it is very easy for the enemy to attack. Now I'm not saying that being able to attack people's mines is bad: it's good (as long as you can't shoot their base from the safety of your own, then it is stupid), but this balance needs to be pointed out and considered.

Take a look at location 1: only 500 coal on the left. You need at least 600 coal to use up all that iron. In lategame, location 1 has to pull coal from all the way on the other side of his base. Location 1's late-iron will be terrible. Move at least 100 coal to the left. I thin 120 would be better, because you shouldn't place your gold's first coal mine on the right: it's too far.

This is a big problem: if locations 2+3 are enemies (could make an interesting setup in 2v2 gaming), these locations can shoot each other from inside their bases...not cool. Make that river a little wider. I think it is especially annoying for 2's iron. I think that 3 is a little too safe while shooting it.

That sums it up... man dude wonderful job on this though. I'm really impressed. You've really gotten good at mapmaking at an unbelievable rate. You're a natural! :)

Re: Eruption-6p

i finished updating the map
download of the new version is in the first post

changes:
-loc 1 now has 750 coal on the left
-fixed the flat brigde
-made loc 6 slightly more difficult by changing the location of the coal and trees
-loc 6 now has a bigger entrance
-loc 3 is easier to defend and has better acces to gold
-made the river between loc 2 and 3 bigger
-added a few more objects

i hope this makes the map balanced enough :)
