Sunday is a great day - here's another video showing off stone deposits placement and mining:

As always - comments and critics are welcome!

Krom, thank you, thank you so much.
Sundays are the worst for gaming/technology articles, webcomics and manga.

This brightens my whole day.

Cool video! Good to see how it's working! And stone mineable from any direction, great :D.

One detail - you used 300x speedup, but in the top left corner there's 600x speed visible, why's that? ;)

Also, on KP site there's only link for video, no minature like in previous video.

@Zombie01: Thanks for writing! :-)

@Tiank: That's right, x600 is the correct reading, the game tried to run at x600 rate. I forgot to update the GUI checkbox caption :-) Thanks for the hint, I have fixed it now. For some reason WordPress wants the links to start with "http://"

Ow and I had a small question/suggestion.
Would it be hard to put a "test map" button in the editor with the functionality that it starts that map and when you press escape and you are back at the editor?
I know it's a small thing to save the map and go to single player to start it, but instantly being able to test the map , quit change something and being back in the map again makes is so easy.

Honestly, don't do it for me. I've never made a KaM map.

Oh, one idea that I got: I noticed that you place units one by one, with single clikcs. It would be really handy if there's possibility to place them like buldings, with shift button, so it's faster :)

In live progress 29 recast navigation lib
I read that you guys are still using Delphi.
Can I ask why you guys are sticking to Delphi opposed to other languages like C (++, #), java, unity, cry-engine (ok that one is overkill :P ) ?
Just wondering, KaM remake runs smooth and KP can even run in 600x smooth on a small map, so you guys are doing a hell of a job.

Yep, Delphi all the way!

As time goes I'm thinking more and more about switching to C++, it has much bigger market.
For the KP though, we already have a few HUNDREDS of thousands of lines of code. Rewriting all that into another language would take a year and gives little to no benefit. Delphi is already cool language capable of almost everything we need now and might need in future (Android, iOS, etc.)

Using a ready-made engine is an option too, but again, we alreay have a lot of a working game, porting that would waste a lot of time. Besides, as we always state - it's a hobby project, we enjoy doing it :-)

Good to know :D

When I'm done with javascript, php and asp.net, I'll open a delphi book.
And I know some people on the university, including someone who is studying artificial intelligence.
I'm not promising anything, but maybe he can help me program a competitive AI that can build from scratch with multiple possible strategies.
Like the turtle, or the rusher, etc.

And if that works, KP could get it as well.
But that is all at least a month away.

Again, no promises, just vague distant dreams.

ow and I had another idea.
In most RTS games you can build a second base.
In KP something similar could be done, like you can place a blueprint for a wagon. it needs 10 wood, 10 stone.
You can fill the wagon with food, servants and builders till a max of 100 food. 5 builders, 5 servants.
That wagon can ride to somewhere and deploys into a base camp.
thus creating a second village.
Since it's not connected to the first camp it needs to be build on it's own.

where was that idea thread again?

The idea has been floating in the air for quit some time now. Hopefully we can try it out in KP :-)

Loved the video

I think as soon as I finish with this thesis thing (hopefully a week) I'll grab a Delphy book like mr zombie. I can't promise, but it would be good if you all insisted :P

BTW, shouldn't this go in "Other Games"?

Delphi books are pretty rare.
If you need one let me know.
I have an ebook.

Knights Province is not yet a game, so I thought it fits better for "general chit chat" for now :-)
