Well mission 20 gives large starting troops and is one of the few where you start with mounted units.

If I recall correctly, mission 15 gives quite a few starting troops and is quite large. Perhaps you should do a speed through if it next? ;)

Re: TSK 20 Won in 5m58s in r6720/11m31s in r5503

Nah, I'll let someone else do that. My interest mainly has been TSK 20 because it's supposedly the hardest mission, although I did win TSK 8, 11, and 14 quickly as well, of course.

Let me note that neither mounted units nor ranged units are required to beat missions quickly, even if you are fighting against both ranged and mounted units.

Vatrix might recall that I beat his "Pursuit for Power" map in about 24.5 minutes in r6547. (The winning condition is supposed to be to just destroy either the storehouse or barracks in the northern most central town.). I can't find his thread that I posted in (maybe it was deleted?), so I'm going to attach the replay here for the future, I guess.

It certainly can be won faster (I didn't spend that much time on it, as this replay was a quick test for Vatrix), but this is an example of what one can do with a limited army. Of course, this technique would not work in r5503, but since the current release has AI chase after you when you are in close range, it's doable.

To be honest, I think people would get bored with my quick wins for other maps because I would just be using the same strategy over and over. Those that have remained interested in seeing my TSK 20 replays can probably extrapolate the tactics used in these replays for other maps.

Ben played a game yesterday, and the day before yesterday, and...

Now when did you play KaM last time, dicso? xD

cmowla: your choice is simple. Either you will become a mapmaker and will make a new singleplayer "obstacles run"-like mode, where people could compare their... hm, scores; or you need to go multi. Or as Da Revolution did: accept that you fulfilled yourself as a player, and retire in glory. Either way, you're welcome to join kamts.eu if you choose the second option.

I just uploaded a video showing my 5 minute and 58 second replay on YouTube!
Knights and Merchants TSK 20 Map Won in Under 6 Minutes
I play it at x3 speed, but I manage to show all of the important events in this amazingly brief game, and it's accompanied by a really cool soundtrack (which I DID purchase a license to use).
Enjoy, everyone.

how about you create your own map, that is so insanely difficult that you can only win it with your tactics?

or a remake of the tsk / tpr maps on insane mode

That sounds interesting. I know Vatrix talked about doing something like this for me in the past, but I am not really interested in map making myself. (I use to make maps for AoE 2 the conquerors, such as world maps, but that's about all the map making I have ever done.)

However, if you look at the replays in my signature, you will see that all such accomplishments, especially Northern Islands I Coop (my god!), are such maps. If you haven't seen that replay, WATCH IT. It's a summation of just about every tactic I know. :)

Re: TSK 20 Won in 5m58s in r6720/11m31s in r5503

After many months of watching my replay over and over, I found a hole in my plan.
So... Next step - 5 minutes? :D
To exert some seriously needed pressure onto myself to beat TSK 20 in 5.00 minutes (or less) in r6720, I'm going to officially announce that I'm actually going for it. I've already started, and I'll say the obvious: this is going to hurt!

Hint: I forgot one last feature to completely exploit. STORM ATTACK.

If I succeed, I would like KaMRemakefan to record this for his channel (since I put my 5:58 on my channel), but I will of course post the replay in the first post of this thread and announce it in a post following this one.
