Possible MAP MAKING Tournaments?

Hello... I was thinking if anyone is interested in participating (after Christmas Tourney) in a Map Making Competition.

There will be 2 Categories: Battle & Construction (you can sign in for one or both).
You have 1 week to send your work via PM to an Organizer. Once time finishes, he will publish all Maps in 1 pack.

Participants download this pack, and then have 1 week to vote their Top Map choices (obviously cannot auto-vote).
Voting means writing your personal 1º,2º,3º from each Category in a Post.
1º -> 3 points | 2º -> 2 points | 3º -> 1 point

For creation/evaluation, Mapmakers must consider 3 pillars -> Balance, Playability, Details.
After the 2 weeks event, Organizer declares 1º,2º,3º places from each Category (suming all points).

Best Award: Including these 1º Winner Maps in next KaM Remake Release (if developers agree). :D

Maps Format: For not having big differences between Map Sizes, I recommend to stablish 64x64 as Max borders.
So the options you can choose to work are reduced to:
32x32 | 48x32 | 48x48 | 64x32 | 64x48 | 64x64

You can put any number of Players on it, but be careful to not break the Balance or limit too much the Playability.
Example: It would be a bad decision to edit a Construction Map for 8 Players in 32x32 Size.

Have you ever made a map yourself?
It takes more than a day to make a map.

Re: Possible MAP MAKING Tournaments?

Thats why I suggested the lowest Limit borders. From x32 to x64, all combinations.
Still, you can sign in for 1 Category if you dont have time for making 2 Maps.

Btw, my intention isnt to make 1 map in 1 day. Once Registration is closed, it starts the "Editing time".
I calculated 1 week making maps, and 1 week to download pack and vote... Do you think we need more than 2 weeks for this?

Ah, I thought you meant we only had one day.
Makes more sense now.

I think 64x64 maps are pretty useless. The only thing I can imagine on such a small map is a 1v1 battle... It would be a waste to spend your time on a map that will be never played on.

I agree. 64x64 really only works for 2-3 players (maybe 4 but you would have VERY little space) 8 players on a 64x64 maps just wouldn't work and wouldn't be played.
I really like the idea of a map making competition, but I think you shouldn't limit the size like that, and should give people longer to make the map. (for the mission competitions on my site I gave people a few months, but they had to do AI too)

Or maybe you could make a smaller competition first, e.g. who makes a better bridge or a lake in 32x32 map (the winner could share his technics with newbies).

Yeah, that's an awesome idea. Making a tech demo competition and see what people find. I already had an idea what I could contribute if this happens.

Re: Possible MAP MAKING Tournaments?

When I generated a 32x32 map I thought that was nice for a 1v1 Battle in some beautiful place. :)

I also tried making a Construction map for 4 players in 48x48 and it was hilarious.
Did you know that you can rush with labourers digging fields in enemy territory so he cannot build there?
Its a very nice idea IMO, which adds extra gameplay to the already well known mechanics.

Maybe it's a very personal point of view... because I love Chaos in reduced places.

Krom's suggestion can be cool too, make your best artwork in 32x32 space.
Or try to build up a Commando Mission: where 1 unit of each type has to sort some small obstacles and reach 1 area.
